All this takes places from said date, until the week after kunarks release
levels 1-20: Great community, giving people, non bias grouping. More than I expected. Loved it.
levels 20-35: Extremely obvious cheats and an exploit being used in South Karana.
SEQ/MQ
First, KFC:
You'd see people exping... then suddenly start running in a specific direction.
Once I followed a female ogre sk, and ended up seeing quillmane for the first time since 2001.
Another time, I followed a male barb rogue. Quillmane again.
These people were easy to spot. from KFC, you're either running north or south.
Second, Hobbit Hut:
Surrounding the hut, are 2 gnolls, and 2 centaurs. every 20 minutes a cyclops or werewolf roams by.
Great spot for exping(Sentry Alchin roams there, heads up for darkies)
This is also a spot where Quillmane spawns, sometimes you'd see high level people standing on a spot waiting
Thats fine. Past experience, knowledge of the spawn ph's and what not.
The bad part was the late night people showing up when quillmane is at 20% and saying it was theres.
Then, making quillmane pop twice more after.
I think I was there from 31-36. I saw Quillmane at least 20 times in 2-3 days.
Always with lone non-tracking players sprinting in the perfect direction,
That is just in 1 spot, and for when I was online.
Not so majestic anymore.
EXPLOIT
I was watching a necro kiting a mob with gnoll lariats, the mob wasnt moving.
I moved in closer and it seemed like his pet was hitting 8 times per round.
I kept watching his pets hits, and every round was 4-8 hits. Perma stun.
This was the level 24 necro pet.
The next night I leveled up and tried it myself. No 8 hits..
I kept leveling.. got a gnoll lariat, gave it to pet.. pet started hitting 6 times
gave it a rusty dagger... swings 8 times..
Quickly googled the 24 pet, it cannot quad without weapons. Seems like something was fixed(with a hammer) and forced to quad without weapons, but with weapons it would quad with both hands.
This was quickly fixed.
How long was this happening though?
Considering its the beginning of November 2010, the server had been up for a bit already.
levels 36+: My first taste of poopsocking
Run around norrath to find out anything that can be camped, has and will be camped for days.
Move on to exping and people are sitting on spawn points medding, killing the pop.
moving to the next spawn point, medding, waiting for pop.
Rinse, Repeat. Obviously this person doesnt want to group or share.
Mob is engaged in combat before it hits the ground.
level 45+: JOIN US!
I leveled pretty quickly, if you were a recruiter and were doing a "/who 40 45/45 50 class"
you would of noticed me rising.
I got tells from a handful of top guilds, Most offered friends, casual gaming, and the eventual raid
IB was straight forward and said they wanted to pwn pixels n such..
I went with one of the other ones.
Guild: zzZZzzzZZZzz
Everyone was nice and everything, but nobody but the core members grouped.
The rest of the guild were their work horses for raids, and unneeded for casual events.
Didnt miss a single raid, but when I asked for my alts to be tagged I was ignored every time. after my alts were 20+ I took a break, until Kunark.
Kunark: Guild Orders.
Came back a couple days before release.
There was a lot of "You must" in guild chat
Do this, then do that. Hold this so you can monopolize that.
Friends and casual gaming turned into GIMMIE PIXELS!!!!
Rape and pillage, crush all who oppose us!
Kunark was poopsocked.
Bound at fire pots... hit 51.. guild was blood thirsty...
Never leveled that char again
I wonder which guild will be monopolizing what when Velious is released.
I'm not that active, but I do read the forums. I've seen a lot of bitching about whats classic.
The only thing this server has in common with live is the parameters in which you play.
The mechanics of this server have been borked and hammered out repeatedly.
The cheating is worse, the amount of exploitation is absurd.
Nobody knows the true amount of exploitation that has happened on this server.
I can tell you one thing, Its at least 10 times worse than live.
A large percentage of the worth of this server was obtained in non classic situations.
From day one things have been enabled that should of been disabled.
I dont care about Medding, or Maps.
But there are MANY mechanics of the game that have been exploited, before being "fixed"
When Velious is released, I call for a new fresh exploit free server so we can have 200 people in each newbie zone. Dont worry poopsockers, You'd still win.
Project1999* is like Barry Bonds, With a corked bat, on a smaller field, in a higher altitude.
