God. How did I not know about and love IPAs until ~6 months ago?

GOD!!!

Good thing I live in Michigan at least. Seems like our State is popping out amazing IPAs left and right.

Yeah Michigan! Crooked Tree is good stuff. You would also probably like Huma Lupa Licious from Shorts Brewing Co.

IPAs are the best beers in my books.

Green Flash Brewing West Coast IPA / Driftwood Brewing Fat Tug IPA are some good west coaster micro-brews to name a couple of many.

I fucking hate beer, and I hate the smug fucking satisfaction somebody feels when they find some small brewery they like

Ninkasi/Deschutes/Rogue.
Sierra Nevada makes some fun specialty beers (Ovila w/ plums from some monk monastery was way awesome)

Those three are all out of Oregon and they all make Excellent beers as decent prices.
Couple off the top of my head that are super hoppy:

Simtra - Knee Deep Brewing (11% as well, like a kick to the face, awesome)
Sculpin IPA - Ballast Point
Chainbreaker IPA - Deschutes

There are tons out there...will have to check my untappd later and see whats else I put on it..

Anyway i live on the west coast and i am looking for east coast beers i cannot normally acquire here if anyone wants to do some beer trading. Specifically trying to get some things from Three Floyds that look awesome.

I'm not much for Belgians, but pretty much all west coast styles, most american styles (American adjunct lagers are not real beer BTW) and many British styles.

If you really love beer, you make it yourself. I have my apple cider, imperial stout and gluten-free Graff on tap right now. My Fish Face IPA, cider, perry and peach, plum and "white" wines in secondary, and a cascade pale, honey steam, apple wine and sparkling plum wine in bottles.

Make booze at home, it's better, extremely cheap, and super fun!

I didn't put much work into it, but until this thread gets ranty I claim biggest rant post.

Only Detroit and Flint! That isn't too bad. A bunch of the smaller cities are great!

I'm a big fan of rolling rock for cheap beer, but I definitely need to get into making my own. Got a buddy coming over this saturday who is going to let me use his shit actually, though I'm not sure what we are going to try making.

So many microbrews treat hops like douchey frat boys treat hot sauce. They get this macho bug up their ass that more hops = more manly and saturate everything they can with hops. Leaving every beer tasting like freshly squeezed skunk-juice.

Ick.

If you want a RIS then you need to get Old Rasputin, makes Stone seem watered down (flavor wise).

Started brewing my own last year; started with an Amber, then Ranger clone, a brown ale, and have a Wee Heavy bulk aging that should be ready to drink by Christmas. Once it gets warmer out will be doing a six batch run using the same yeast cake, as one batch finishes and gets bottled then add the next right on top of the yeast. Will start with a ESb and then ending with a RIS. Right now doing extracts, but should move to All Grain halfway through the run. :D
