Aegolism should overwrite Protection of the Glades. It was not until 2003 the druid line would block Aego. Source: http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20031105.html

Protection of the Cabbage, Protection of the Glades and Protection of the Nine will block Temperance, Aegolism and Virtue.

Druid HP buffs are no longer overwriting stronger cleric HP buffs.

This conflicts.

Late Velious (11/2001), week before Luclin, thread from EQ Clerics

Note: All my advice is given from the perspective of a cleric with full SS and a few ntov items. It is given with regards to ntov, although it's a fairly good standard for anywhere.

Aegolism will overwrite PotG. For this reason you should ALWAYS ask any casting class before you aegolism them (hybrids included; they want potg over aegolism in long fights like Vulak), or better yet, have them ask you first.

When doing any mob in ntov (zone trash, named trash, dragons, etc) I always have the following buffs up: PotG, Clarity II, GoB, Riotous Health, Focus of Spirit, and sometimes resists, depending on where my positioning reletive to the mob is. Rarely I'll have a symbol up as well; never an AC buff. At the level of encounters I'm at, if a mob decides he wants to kill me, 35 more AC isn't going to make a difference. If you're getting hit with an AE regularaly (sp?) though (in ntov I use walls to avoid AE's, so I don't take much damage. In places like the HoT though this isn't always possible), I'd suggest symboling yourself. I still don't think an AC buff is useful for anyone besides maybe enchanters and shamans; all other melees will have aegolism 99% of the time and all other casters won't need an AC buff.

Speaking from a 60 druid point of view I definately agree with Auelan. Casting classes and hybrids love PoTG and there's really no reason to Aego them. Not to mention PoTG costs 1200 mana per cast so be sure to ask before using Aego on anyone that has potg. As far as ac buffs go, don't waste the mana on anyone that's not taking dmg directly. Yes buff the chanter, shm, main and secondary tanks. Any wiz, druid, mage that starts getting beat on will be dead anyway before the tanks taunt back off.

For the relevant time period of our server, Aego should overwrite and block PotG.

It looks like something may have happened in late summer 2002 that caused Druid spells to overwrite Cleric HP spells, then switched back (Daldaen's patch note), then switched again in 2003 to block Aego (Kindadar's patch note).

This EQ Clerics thread is from March 2002 before both patch notes.

I would be more than happy if:

- Aego didnt overwrite PotG and vice-versa
- BAotR overwrote Focus and NOT vice-versa.

That way we could use Grp Aego, Grp Focus and PotG - in particular with MGB - without it annoying others.

When buffing for a raid...

Cleric MGB's Aegolism.
Those who would rather have POTG click Aego off.
Druid MGB's POTG.
Shaman MGB's Focus.

Don't ask for aego can't over-write PoTG or we're going to have headache. Druid casted PoTG on self(thus group). Cleric MGB Aego. Then tons of stupid tanks who never check their buffs when you keep announcing MGB inc come to you and ask you to cast aego on them again.

Druids' Grove thread from July 2002

Most of our clerics have MGB now and drop mass eggo at the drop of a hat. The other day I was hit 4 times in less then 30 minutes. I find that I really need the mana regen of cabbage most of the time and need the hp's of symbol alot of the time. Sucks to watch two symbols drop in less then 10 minutes or to watch one drop less then 30 secs after you get it.

Would love for them to make it so eggo doesn't override potc/symbol, but that might be to hard for them to do. So instead, I'd like to see a new buff for us that has our mana regen and will stack with Aego. Was thinking something simple like just adding the mana to bladecoat.

Druid's Grove thread from August 2002 concerning Test server changes

they said they can't make say potg overwrite ageo becuase then if you cast if on someone with ageo and at 500hp or so... they would loss the extra hps from ageo and die... which is a really really bad thing.

so the next best thing they said they would try was getting it so ageo doesn't overwrite potg and a bunch of similar things (like warder's protections and such)
