This patch contains new required files. Download and extract the Project 1999 Files (V33) (http://www.project1999.com/files/P99Files33.zip) to your EQ Titanium Directory.

Code

Haynar: Changed light blue con colors to green.
Haynar: Removed the con color from the target window.
Haynar: Charmed pets who have grids will now guard properly.
Haynar: Mask of Hunter/etc. will no longer fade on zoning.
Haynar: The command for pets to back off, will no longer cause them to ghost if they are moving.
Haynar: Mob movement fixes while pathing between waypoints.
Haynar: Fixes for AC being low.
Haynar: Fear fixes while in water/liquid.

Just curious, are you still using Telin's spell particles in the new patches? I downloaded his about a months and a half ago, and the ones in this patch are much more dense.

Just wondering, if you aren't, I'll go get them again from his thread :)

Hello, it seems as though shared bank slots have been removed. What happens to any items or containers we had stored in those slots? Are they gone for good now?

Shared bank slots were never in the game if you saw shared banks its because your UI was buggy and your weren't suppose to. The stuff that was in them in gone forever if i remember correctly from someone else posting about this months ago.

yes. 528 for key of swords and 264 for misplaced according to Key master atm.

Im having the same problem Lifelover. All my toons are gone and I get a spell error. I downloaded patch and extracted it into the correct files.

Ok I got the patch to work. I had to download the original files and the extract the patch into it. Make sure you don't over write the entire folder when you extract the patch Lifelover.

Yes there was no light blue con in classic everquest. Green con mobs should not give xp either.

Just checking, but you extract to your p1999 directory, not the eq titanium directory, right?

I could of swore there was a light blue before- it just never had gray, the range of green on here was just to large. so light blue should still be in game, no?

yeah i'm pretty sure that light blue style experience gains were classic... they just were part of the color green? then later on devs thought it was confusing some green kills gave experience and some didn't? so they invented light blue?

or am I remembering that wrong?


edit: someone in game explained it to me... this is a client ui change... and the server exps aren't changed, whew, i was afraid this was gonna be a big nerf to exp gain in non-perfect camps.

I downloaded and extracted the files EXACTLY as the patch notes indicate I should. Yet now when I log on I have ZERO characters and it says my "spell files" are out of date. SO WTF DID I JUST DOWNLOAD AND EXTRACT?!?!?!?! So i read the forums looking for answers. There is none. Only a vague "dont overwrite" ALL the files when extracting. So lemme get this straight, theres a patch but Im not supposed to overwrite old files with updated files??? Whats the point of the patch then? To screw players from logging on, and make them search for non-existent answers on WHY the patch is f**ked. I have no clue what to do and there are ZERO instructions other then "download and extract to...." which I did and guess what? NOW I CANT LOG IN. Excellent instructions.
So now what EXACTLY is it that Im ACUALLY supposed to do in order to patch the game "correctly" so that I can play?

download zip, make a new folder on desktop, put files in it, organize > select all > then copy them

go to your eqemu folder top left tab > organize then paste, replace all it ask to.

One thing that happened to me is in my rush to get back online, I hit the "Quick Connect" button and was logged into a different server than Project 1999 where I had no characters and the spell files were not valid. I backed out, and manually selected the correct server and logged in and all was well. This is something you may want to double check.

Just curious, are you still using Telin's spell particles in the new patches? I downloaded his about a months and a half ago, and the ones in this patch are much more dense.

Just wondering, if you aren't, I'll go get them again from his thread :)

I'm not sure if it was updated or not myself. If not, I would highly suggest getting then from the server chat thread. Not only are they more classic, but they perform better with many effects like fire. They also center all effects that were misaligned with the character.

Yes there was no light blue con in classic everquest. Green con mobs should not give xp either.

High greens gave xp at least if soloing. I remember doing that on my warrior when I was bored.

I unzipped the archive on my admin session on windows 7 and its working.

I did the same on my user account and it doesnt work. I tried to delete the files, then copy them. It's not working. I extracted them in a folder and copied / replaced them, it's not working.

Anyone else having issues with outdated spell files on a non-admin session of Windows 7?

On AC changes. Below level 50, worn armor will help more. There were a few other tweaks when you had low ac, that caused you not to get hit max by high level mobs too. So if ur naked, it will be more severe of a beating.

One of the reasons I install my games on an alternate drive and change the security of the Games folder to give my user account full access. You never have to worry about running things as an admin.

I still can't get mine to work. (I have Windows 7)

Opened 7-zip (as admin)
Extracted into a separate folder.
Went to folder, copied all / pasted all into EQ Titanium folder (as directed).
Clicked, "Yes" when it asked me if I wanted to do this (or needed admin permission).
Clicked "Yes" to overwrite files and folders.
Finished.

Still getting the "Your spells file is outdated" error.

Happened on my account and a family member's account.

Thank you very much for all your hard work in this patch. The server staff rains down blessings on the unworthy.

Downloaded the RAR file, unpacked, and carefully replaced the files in my game install folder each in turn. If I had done a straight replace of the UI folder, I would have lost my Velious UI so I was glad I inspected the folder contents when deciding what to move over / replace.

In game now, stuff is working fine.

The only reason I can see that some people are having some issues is maybe once the files were put into place, they might be in a read only state. I was getting the spells error also. I went into the security of the folder of EQ and reinstated full control permissions on the entire folder and only then did it finally work.

FIXED! I am in.

1. I uninstalled Titanium. (I had it installed in a "Program Files" folder, which I'm now learning was a mistake.)
2. Reinstalled the game in a new folder. I made C:\EQ
3. Followed instructions on "Setup Page" here on p1999. (Deleted the arena, nek, lava files listed).
4. Downloaded new patch.
5. Extracted patch into its own folder under "MyDocuments"
6. Copied files over. (Note, I did not copy whole FOLDERS over. I just copied the main files, then went into each sub folder, copied those files and pasted them into the game subfolders. Hope that makes sense.)

It works now. Reposting this on the other thread too. Hope that is okay.

Did druids get the nerf bat? Breath of Ro seems to do less damage, root resists more frequently and breaks more often and the level 54 wolf form is no longer the cool looking black model I had just gotten used to.

Edit - Breath of Ro appears to cost 250 mana for less damage compared to the 225 mana it originally was...

I too miss the con colors in the targeting window. And yes, it's true - this wasn't classic, but for all the people frothing with "anything not classic should go!" I can't help thinking it's a bit like certain Supreme Court Justices who insist that -- ridiculous though the result may be -- we should never expand the scope of the constitution in a manner that's plainly better for everyone and not incompatible with its general thrust.

"Everything classic because that's the era!" is somewhat like saying we shouldn't IRL have any rules or principles regarding cars or antibiotics because the country's founding fathers couldn't have imagined modern automobiles and medicine.

Most people are not frothing about this - they're pointing out the hypocrisy of doing something using classic as an excuse, but willfully ignoring other things that fall under the same reasoning.

This was a silly change when there are actual, real things to be working on.

Any advice? I wiped all my eq files and started from scratch using the new player guide to setting up an account, minus recreating my forum and eqemu accounts. Same error.

Yes. Im 100% for full classic, I wish UI could be forced...but the double standards / inconsistencies arent justified. Why does blue have duck to interrupt and red still does not? Is red even supposed to be classic like? So many custom features and then some nerfs come along to make game play harder for newer players.

I'll confess to feeling these exact same emotions at times. But then I remember that some "big" things that need changing either can't be changed or are very hard to change, or there is insufficient information with which to make a change. Whereas some "little" things that get changed instead of "big" things may be relatively easy to accomplish. These folks don't have unlimited time on their hands, so they get done what they can. After all, they don't get paid much. :)

Don't overwrite the folder. Open folder and copy paste new items in. I backed up all files prior. Then I overwrote the resources folder and not the others. Came up with a weird issue I was going to post a video for but the problem was that I had overwrote the resources folder, dont. Open copy and paste new files in. Check this out...

Most problems are cause by people copying the folders "Resources, SpellEffects, and Uifiles" Directly over their existing folders. You need to copy the contents of these folders as to not overwrite your other files within them.

Not ur fault bro; trust me we all appreciate your (and everyone else's) hard work going into getting P99 feeling "classic."

I guess we have gotten spoiled with certain "non-classic" mechanics such as in-game item links and the con color on the target bar. At this point into the project, we, the community, assumed that these would be left alone, since P99 debuted in 2009.

I think to soften BIG changes like this in the future you should give some fair warning. Especially if you plan on removing in-game item links. Even though I'm upset about the removal of the color con on the target bar, I can deal with that.

If it is so unpopular, why do it? I don't understand. This idea of "classic" is worn so thin at this point. There are a lot of things that aren't classic, and classic had a lot of bugs and oversights that needed to be fixed to improve playability. Remove maps and compass? Fine. Just a little annoying, but that's it. But you start doing things that make it harder to exp, harder for people to group, harder to play the game -- when these things were just silly oversights to begin with, as acknowledged by the fact that they were patched -- I just don't see the point. How on earth does it help the server to remove LFG search functions or LB exp cons, just because it wasn't "classic"? It's just too over the top and does not improve enjoyment one bit.

A lot of this stuff is really badly designed in the original EQ, true, and we still played the game, yes. But it was all fixed within a year or two. This server has been in Kunark for how long?

If it is so unpopular, why do it? I don't understand. This idea of "classic" is worn so thin at this point. There are a lot of things that aren't classic, and classic had a lot of bugs and oversights that needed to be fixed to improve playability. Remove maps and compass? Fine. Just a little annoying, but that's it. But you start doing things that make it harder to exp, harder for people to group, harder to play the game -- when these things were just silly oversights to begin with, as acknowledged by the fact that they were patched -- I just don't see the point. How on earth does it help the server to remove LFG search functions or LB exp cons, just because it wasn't "classic"? It's just too over the top and does not improve enjoyment one bit.

A lot of this stuff is really badly designed in the original EQ, true, and we still played the game, yes. But it was all fixed within a year or two. This server has been in Kunark for how long?

Everything you are saying sounds reasonable. However, it is just your opinion. Others may have the opinion that when you allow differences from Classic you step on a slippery slope. Pretty soon, allowing little improvements and deviations here and there, it would be easy enough to have a server that was not so classic at all. IMO it is better to err on the side of Classic. One person's utter annoyance is another person's appreciated feature.

Bottom line is, it is the dev's opinion that matters and we are here on sufferance. It is very important to remember not to let a feeling of entitlement creep in. We are entitled to NOTHING. But we are lucky, because this is the best game around. We owe these guys. Not everything they do is going to be pleasing and you can't please all of the people all of the time anyway. It's ok to express opinions but never look this gift horse in the mouth.

This is an argument you can't win, because they won't argue it. If they could force you to play in a 800x600 full screen UI with a single chat box, they would. And I'd still play it.

Input for Haynar if he wants such. On the whole, I seem to be getting beat up a little bit more. 57 Iksar SK, well geared (for an Iksar) fighting blue giants.

Hmmm, I take it back. I need to give it more time before I say that. I hope it is ok to post impressions though. I don't have any baseline to compare to, other than "general feel".

I have more tweaks in mind for AC. But currently working charm resists, chanter/shm/mage npc debuff ai, npc's charming pets, some pathing issues when target changes, a few mob speed tweaks, adding doors to los code checks.

They were on the master wish list to be more "classic". And I thought it would be fun to learn something new and figure out how to do. Thats how i have fun. Pretty sick huh? I am not the best or fastest coder. But I do try hard to get it right.

I would keep bumping the bug thread, but no more than once a week. Nilbog would likely do the changes. He goes through bug threads usually. I am not set up to make those changes myself.

Any word on if the raptor run speed change in TD was intentional? I admit I started playing during Velious era, but they definitely did not run the speed they are now when i quaded them during Velious on live. Was this something put in to match Kunark Era? Did Sony slow them down during Velious? Or was this just a byproduct of some other change in the code?

Well I have eq tit already so I opened it and clicked repair, let it do its thing and naturally i took the most recent patch and moved it correctly into the correct places. I however feel like theres something missing like after i repaired I have to install a general patch for the server itself ontop of the new update. any ideas?

Still doesnt work after the steps described.

I did have one question about this patch. Maybe I missed it in the patch notes, but the run speed of certain mobs has drastically increased. It seems like most cats and birds are much faster since the patch. All I was wondering is if this was an I tended change that we will have to permanently adjust to, or if it is an unintended side effect of something that got implemented with this patch.

Did druids get the nerf bat? Breath of Ro seems to do less damage, root resists more frequently and breaks more often and the level 54 wolf form is no longer the cool looking black model I had just gotten used to.

Edit - Breath of Ro appears to cost 250 mana for less damage compared to the 225 mana it originally was...

Breath of Ro appears to have been nerfed I noticed as well, despite it not being in the patch notes. Went from 103 dmg per tick to 92 dmg per tick. Didn't check mana cost.

I use Luclin graphics, patched the game and had to go back to my globalload file and change everything back the way it was before the patch and that fixed it. ;)

Didn't have to edit my eq ini file though, nothing was changed there.

Thanks for the feedback Haynar. Those things you are working on now sound quite worthy. Any AC issue - assuming there is one - is not a major one, from what I personally have seen so far. My overall impression is that I am getting damaged a little faster than I was, but it is not crippling.

I appreciate the work but I really wish you had left the target con color alone. Making the game much clunkier in the name of "purity" that cannot be reached due to things like item links, etc, is a mistake. You still have to /con to see how the mob feels about you, so I don't see why this is necessary.

Heh, I was mostly just responding the ever present "Because Classic" crying. Yes, the colored con is a little inconvenient but I can work around it. I will say that I don't think it needed to be removed though.
I like P99 because of the era that the devs have decided upon not necessarily the classic problems that plagued classic EQ. Even though it was plagued, it is still one of the best games I had played and that is why I came back here.
So I have decided to respond in the same manner when ever I see someone cry out the "because classic" argument. Those people seem to think it is cool also.

Resists are horribly broken from this patch. On tashed mobs my 60 Enchanter is getting Charm Resists, Mez Resists, and early root breaks. Unheard of.

Also my 55 Shaman when using malo line is getting many more early root breaks. Root should last full duration if malo line is on mob especially :( Help please.

This was the method I always used(probably from my own 14 year old memories), so I didn't even know there was a way to cancel the spellcasting altogether and didn't understand the ducking discussion. Seems 14 year olds can remember better than I thought :P

The only thing that changed is the color the mob cons. All mobs that were of level to con light blue to you now con green but still give the same amount of XP as they always have.

Resists were most definitely changed.

Level 48-50 mobs in Seb full resisting roots/bane of nifes and breaking roots early with malosini on. Never seen this happen EVER before the patch.

It's also seemed like weaker mobs have been getting full casts off as well. For instance, jins in Seb getting casts off on my 60 shaman with ~150 resist pretty frequently.

All anecdotal, but for what it's worth...

All this complaining about the con changes, and only one person mentions the horribly in accurate resist changes ? I am all for making the server more classic but stealth changes absent from the patch notes that dramatically affect the game play are pretty childish.

To expand on the quote above, green mobs are resisting paralyzing earth. Light blue mobs breaking after 3 second paralyzing earth.

Necro DOTs harder to land across the board, and spells such as engulfing darkness that have a 95% land rate or so are being resisted constantly to dark blue mobs.

He compares the MR effects on the darkness dot line which is completely accurate to how classic eq was during the kunark era.

I hate to criticize but I would like the game play to be classic instead of taking magic resist into a direction that is different from the original.

I've remained pretty quiet about a lot of things on P99 that are trivial ultimately, but there are some clear issues here and I'm all I'm asking for is some guidance/clarity/feedback from the team.

Just because this is volunteer doesn't mean that no one can say or ask anything of the staff. Besides that fact, I've monetarily donated and brought countless players to the community over the years. And the community makes the game.

I helped push for the con color change FYI. We all knew about it. It's high fives and cheers throughout the development team whenever one of us finds a way to restore or correct a classic feature.

I've also spent an entire day making gnomes path in circles. Completely inefficient and a waste of time that I thoroughly enjoyed.

You don't get faction from quest turn ins on charmed mobs, just experience. If the lesser spirit counts as an animal, maybe the shaman has to charm it?

It is possible shamans should default at Indifferent upon creation though. But there is evidence from 2001 of some classes being apprehensive and having to charm.

You don't get faction from charming it. You get the quest piece. Which you then turn in to Bondl in NFP (without charming him) and get faction from that. The charming is only to get sufficient faction to get the quest piece.

I have just been alerted by my AV program that DSETUP.dll is being marked as the Artemis! Trojan.

Any others reporting the same thing?

Researching a way to get the EQ directory exempted from scanning.

I'm like a few other users that just want to play and the AV scanner is flagging the file and the program will not run with it quarantined.

EDIT: After restoring the files from quarantine I suspended the Active Real-time scan until I was finished playing. I suspect the files will be picked up again and I will redo the process when I play, until McAfee gets it stuff together.

Was your site hacked? AVG is detecting dsetup.dll as a generic trojan virus. Eq won't run anymore. i went back to your site to download p99files33.zip again and as soon as i copy dsetup.dll back into the eq directory AVG detects it as a trojan once more.

????

Resists are definitely no good. Also mobs breaking roots randomly without being casted on etc.

Sophos is also detecting dsetup.dll as a virus. This file is in the 33patch zip file. A trojan's been on all of our PC's for weeks. Change your passwords people.

It's not a virus. Just exclude your eq directory in whatever program you're using.

fwiw, malwarebytes doesn't flag it.

okay another then the virus these people are talking about.

I hope i am not the only one. but my targeting color setting doesn't show up on the person.mob it only shows the target name blinking what is this? it don't show up on the target or on the target box help! this all happened after extracting them new v33 files into my eq direct. so i have to con all creatures now? con circle no longer shows? .. wtf why this titanium client not original original classic. this makes we want not to play p99 now :o( sad face.

it looks like i will never see lvl 57 or get max 60 on paladin. Kishift will be in a tome chamber Lvl 56 ForEver,,

I hope I don't get squashed but im having a hick of a time up dating my eq files can someone able help me on this please. im not that good on this kind of stuff. I thought I updated V 33 file but when I logged on it said that I needed to update my spells . Sigh Id greatly appreciate any kind of help on this please thanx
