No damage = Kill Steal?

I died in upper guk, forgot to bind nearby so I had to run from north ro. On my run through oasis I saw a group killing a ghoul. We all know how fun corpse runs are, so I decided to liven it up by seeing if I could correctly time a slam on the ghoul they were fighting as I ran straight by with SoW. I was naked, so I knew I wouldn't do any damage.

I didn't even realize I had gained xp until I saw:

At first I thought he was just being stupid and giving me a hard time for hitting his ghoul. But, then I looked at my combat logs, and sure enough I got xp. This is a pretty big bug?

I've seen this before, while playing on another EQEMU server. And it is indeed a bizarre one and very situational... I haven't tried to derail why it happens yet. It's also interesting your bash responded with him being invulnerable. Hmm! Maybe non-magic weapon on magical creature related bug ?

Yeah, I saw this happen. A naked troll just pops by while we're grinding down a ghoul, and then somehow gets the kill credit. Definitely a glitch of some kind.

My group wasn't mad, just extremely curious how this happened.

I was in that group. It was indeed an odd occurrence. We also had a cleric do 1 point of damage to a pull and she received credit. These things happen.

This may be unrelated, but something similar happened last night. What can I say, I tend to be a magnet for free xp :). I zoned into highpass and some group trained me. I didnt cast any spells, or make any attacks. Orc died somehow, and I got the xp. Heres the important bits:
