Pet Experience Penalty in Groups...

Hypothetically, if you are a necro duoing with a mage and both pets out dps both casters do you:

A)
Receive 50% of the exp from the mob?

B)
Receive 25% of the experience from the mob (highest damaging pet takes 50% of the total exp, and 2nd pet takes 50% of the remaining experience?)

C)
Receive 100% exp from the mob? (grouping negatives the exp penalty?)

D)
Other?

Also, does anyone know if the exp penalty will be removed in Velious? Seems like this would be something that should be done around the time that the hybrid penalty is removed.

pet penalty doesnt apply to groups.

As long as the pet does not do 100% of the damage to the mob while the pet owner is grouped, the group will receive 100% exp (is my understanding).

So, you have to do 1-pt of damage if grouped? That sounds strange. I tried looking at different mage exp penalty forum pages, but couldn't find a straight answer. Can anyone confirm?

seems like it would take about 20 seconds to test this in-game. get two pet classes. only send pet. see if you get xp.

Well, it's not whether or not you'll receive exp, but how much exp you receive. Also, I don't know if levels make a difference in the exp formula and it's much harder to tell at higher levels how much your exp bar actually moved. Anyway, I'm at work at the moment, but I suppose I'll try this out on some level 1 characters when I get home to see if I can tell the difference.

Solve the problem entirely by getting a third pet, then no pet can do over 50% damage and steal your exp! ^^

w/ 3 or even 10 pets, 1 can still do 50+% of damage... harder for sure, but possible.

This is correct. Quit perpetuating rumors to the contrary.

Pet stealing XP was pre Luclin, perhaps it was pre Kunark too? I remember they patched it when we proved it in the old SOE forums using combat logs and such
