I just wanted to give a special thanks to two people who helped me out of a tough situation - Greeb from Rampage and Jardin Gardin.

TLDR: Two great people helping an idiot out! Wonderful community!

I'm a lvl 18 ranger and wanted to travel to LOIO for old times sake to do a bit of soloing. I got a port to DL and levi/sow which helped me get across DL at such a low lvl. Went through the tunnel in FV zoneline, took a left and headed to LOIO, no problem.

When I got there I started killing undeads near my friends the "explorers" hut. Great times had by all till I had a roamer join the party. I started backing up into the hut knowing my friends would have my back. And they did...along with a dagger they put in it. All of them started ganging up on me whom they used to look at amiably. There went lvl 18. So, forlorn, I had to travel back, naked to to LOIO for a CR from Freeport.

After much begging and bowing I finally made it back to DL with a sow/levi again. I started my trek back with invis on, made it to LIOI, got my corpse and after looking for ports out of there for a while figured I'd make the trek back to DL druid rings for easier way out. Worst choice ever.

Some of the mobs see invis there and crumpled me just outside the FV line in the woods. There went another bubble in lvl 17. As a ranger I'm getting very depressed thinking of all the work I'll need to do to make it back to 18 now.

More begging and bowing later I get back to DL, MAKE it to whatever temple it is in the middle, Karnor or something like that, and after repeated attempts of making it to my corpse I sit in front of the temple wondering what I'm going to do.

Out of desperation, as I'm not typically the type who really likes to ask for help, I ask in OOC if anyone can help get my corpse for me. I took a gamble and the gamble paid off. Almost immediately Greeb asks if I knew where it was and went looking for it. He comes back quite quickly with it and before I could even off a thanks or payment he asks if I wanted a rez. Well, I'm sure not going to turn that down so I told him yes. He logs onto another character, comes in and gives me a 96% rez! Almost back to lvl 18!!! I was ecstatic! I tried to pay him, with what very little, very very little I had and he wouldn't let me.

He asked me where I was going and when I told him back to the druid rings he actually offered to escort me there. Taking his own personal time to help a stranger. As we were about to leave we see this druid kiting some mobs around and he mentioned that the druid might be able to port me.

Enter Jardin Gardin. I asked him if after he was done kiting those, if he would mind porting me to WC. Without a delay he said yes and sure enough when done with the mobs he invited me and ported me.

I can't thank you guys enough as I really was at a loss of what to do. This type of community is what makes EQ P99 so great. You hear and see many stories of this person taking my mob, or this guild being terrible, how dare this person do that, name calling etc. I wanted to give a side of the story that I see more and more often.

THANKS!

That's so great to hear--this story made me think of how great the community has been here.

I'll chime in that I was on Red last night under my Necro (Kryll). I was poking around the Spectres near the Plane of Fear zone line when I ran into another Necro (Splade) already camping them.

I was really just exploring a bit, knowing that I'd want to try soloing there. But Splade invites me to group, and proceeds to explain the exacting mechanics on how to properly solo the area, and holds my hand as I take lead in pulling a few. I'll always be thankful for the nice handouts I received as a lowbie, but gifts of time like this are so generous.

This is why I'll never go back to Live/Ragefire :)

That's awesome. They say if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day but teach him to fish and you feed him for life. Knowledge is the best gift given. Thanks for the good story.

"Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime. Teach a man to BE a fish and he can eat himself. Teach a man to eat himself and fish no longer matter."
