I have a feeling all city leaders follow this number system, 750+ hit for their faction, -1500 for their friendly factions. Posts on King Tormax's Allakhazam page suggest this. I will work on getting more live hits.

Been working on Tormax faction recently, I've killed 1 Dain, 2 Yelinak's, 1 Velketor, turned in ~100 coldain heads, killed ~50 royal guards in thurg b as well as a few Chamberlains, and I'm still only apprehensive.

Inapprehensive faction level alone I've turned in ~10 heads, killed ~ 25 royal guards, 2 Chamberlains, and a Yelinak, and I'm still not out of it.

Something is obviously very wrong with the faction on this server currently.

Been working on Tormax faction recently, I've killed 1 Dain, 2 Yelinak's, 1 Velketor, turned in ~100 coldain heads, killed ~50 royal guards in thurg b as well as a few Chamberlains, and I'm still only apprehensive.

Inapprehensive faction level alone I've turned in ~10 heads, killed ~ 25 royal guards, 2 Chamberlains, and a Yelinak, and I'm still not out of it.

Something is obviously very wrong with the faction on this server currently.

I've been working on Dain faction and noticed this as well. From dubious, one tormax kill (with guards) should take you to indifferent at least but it only brought me to apprehensive. I'm wondering if these bosses have been hard-coded to apprehensive as max (since apprehensive is a short range of only -100 to -1 )

From talking to other people they are not hard coded to be maxed at apprehensive, I will just assume Daldaen is correct and Yelinak only gives +75 Tormax faction, although I'm not convinced this was the case during classic.

However I am positive that the apprehensive range is currently much larger than it should be, There are many different charts out there with varying numbers but they all list apprehensive as one of the smaller faction ranges, but on this server it certainly seems to be one of the largest.

Even when you count the fact that Yelinak is only +75, The amount of royal guards I have killed alone should be more than enough to have gotten me out of apprehensive.

In that case it might be larger than 100 for apprehensive. Given that you've had a dain kill as well (750), it would have a bit impact. But for tormax since you start at KoS (iirc?), that would take a bit longer than say working Dain faction

Can you confirm whether or not the +75 Tormax from Yelinak is intended? When looking at other city leaders faction hits it seems like all of Yelinak's values are missing a 0.

Endonde I looked around for some comments about a Yelinak hit being size able but I found nothing.

I agree it's logical that the city leaders follow the same value system (+750 and -1500) and that the Yelinak values look as though they are all missing 0s.

One or two posts about having large faction jumps after a single Yelinak kill would be sufficient evidence in my eyes to suggest at some point on live they screwed up Yelinak and dropped him from +750/-1500 to +75/-150.

That being said, 3~ Dain kills should max Ally you. Which isn't too bad.

Also I'd be curious to hear more evidence on the top of the Head turnin quests' minimum faction. I know I did the Yelinak head turnin on Mac with Apprehensive. There's also comments about sneak turnins for Dain head working as well around 2003.

Someone made a post claiming the faction amounts were eased up in Luclin but hasn't provided any source for this claim.

For the city leaders I would be more inclined to think the quests require rather intermediate faction values because of how rare the faction hits are for their specific factions (Dain/Yelinak/Tormax).

I'll keep checking for Statue to see if I can get a hit on him. I'm guessing he is a 500/750 type hit. I'm also curious how big the NToV faction hits are but it's been cleared out the last few times I've been through ToV on live.

I can confirm the ranges in all the wiki pages and basically everywhere are not the same as the ranges on the current p99.

Right now I am Ally with Tormax, below are my notes.

I started with about 10 negative tormax hits from random arena guards in kael and 1 vindicator hit. I grabbed these from my logs and can post them. Then I had 2 velks +tormax hits and somewhere between 10-20 royal guard hits in icewell as well as a couple Chamberlain and Seneschals. At this point I was Threatening to Tormax (before the last round of royals I was RTA)

With some testing help for Toggin we were able to confirm 10 heads = 1 click of alliance neck by turning in 1 head at a time until the necklace made the faction jump. then turning in 1 head at a time until it jumped to the next rank naturally with out the neck. it took 10 heads. The rest will assume that each head turn in to Bvellos is 10 faction for Tormax (likely more for Zek)


threatening 30heads + neck to dubious (after resetting Alliance it was 5heads to dubious) 350~ total faction. This could be more depending on where I started in threateningly


19 to apprehensive (maybe handed in huntsman head) - Im not sure but I may have turned in a huntsman head for the coldain skin boots here. This rank went way faster than expected, so I will chalk it up to that.

40 + neck to indiff (49 heads) neck to amiably at this point ~500 total faction for the Apprehensive rank

42 heads + neck to kindly

Dain Hit to warmly (even with neck)

18 heads to ally no neck

On P99 we killed 2 Flurry drakes and 2 trash mobs (-120 CoV), this dropped some people from Ally to Amiable. That should not happen, most of the time you shouldn't even drop out of Ally, at a max Warmly.

WToV trash/central ToV trash is a -10 CoV, -2 Yelinak, +5 Kromzek

Some Named Drakes in NToV are -10 CoV and some amount of Guardians of Veeshan (this faction is irrelevant since everyone is KoS).

Some Named Drakes in NToV are -50 CoV and GoV

It looks to me like the static level 60 Drakes are the ones giving the -50 hits and the roaming level 65/66 drakes are giving the -10 hits. I'd say that's a safe way to code it, but aren't those roaming level 65/66 drakes not supposed to be in game during our timeline?

I agree, I'd tend to think Yelinak was intended to be a +750/-1500 faction hit mob but the 0's were lost at some point.

Whether it's classic or a new change on live, is anyone's guess. Perhaps we can chalk it up to the Skyshrine 2.0 change that happened after Sleeper was awakened and classic should be the standard city leader +750/-1500 amounts.

Everything I'm reading regarding raising KT mentions that "Dain, his royals and yelinak" and head turn ins to bvellos are basically the necessities to raise it quickly. Im not seeing anything that reinforces the fact that a Yelinak kill is a fraction of the hit of a Dain kill, and it makes sense considering the lore. Here's a little comment that reinforces:

There's three other factions, King Tormax, Lord Yelinak and Dain Frostreaver IV. They are the leaders of the giants, dragons and dwarves, respectively.

Kromzek deaths raise Dain faction and lower Tormax faction, Coldain deaths do the opposite.

Killing Tormax will raise your Yelinak and Dain faction,

killing Dain will raise Tormax faction but do nothing for Yelinak, and

killing Yelinak will raise Tormax faction but do nothing for Coldain.

Looks like there is a standard value for WToV/Central trash, NToV Trash/66 Luclin Flurry drakes, 60 static drakes and named.

For the community at large, some values to be gathered that I haven't managed yet:

Statue of Rallos Zek - I think this guy should be a +500/-1000 hit but I'm not positive and I can't find him up

Avatar of War - I have the +500 hit but I don't have the - hit because I was max KoS to Giants. So to get this information you would need to be friendly with Giants enough to take a -1000 or -1500 hit and it to show in full.

WToV Dragons, I would assume they are the same as NToV bosses with a -500 CoV with their hit amount but I'm not sure. The -Yelinak and +Kromzek I've got no idea though. Lendi / Gozzrem and Telk all could use a killing. I'm assuming they're identical but you never know.

Beyond this, gathering some trash hits from Kael or more from ToV would be good. The typical faction quests that haven't been confirmed yet are also good (check Allakhazam and see if faction values have been posted yet) *** reminder the Skyshrine on live is different than today's, you can't really do those faction quests with the same reliability anymore.

One thing I've noticed factioning on this server with multiple factions... Apprehensive seems to be much larger than 100. No matter what faction I'm working on it seems to be one of the longest to get through.

Just to clarify, all of the -50 faction drakes listed as "Flurry Drakes" are dragon guards, I would assume this is why they give a larger faction hit than other drakes.

One could assume that all non guards, and non hatchling trash would be the same -10 CoV, would need to get numbers on a normal drake, and wurm to be sure though.

I was Kindly to CoV last night. I took a single faction hit from an NToV dragon guard (which my live logs show to be a -50 hit) and I dropped to apprehensively. Suggesting the P99 values are actually at a minimum of -500 faction.

Can we get this fixed? ToV is destroying faction way faster than it should be just doing trash clears.

Any dragon guard (2 at the Lords/Ladies/Aary, 4 at Eashen and 6 at Vulak) - Should be a -50 CoV hit
Any Flurry drake or trash mob should be a -10 CoV hit
Any named raid mob (all with FTE messages) should be a -500 CoV hit

Currently the dragon guards and flurry drakes/trash mobs have hugely inflated faction values.

Based on these values... All Frost giants are 1 CoV, 5 Coldain. The Storm giant escorts are only 2 CoV and the storm giant named are 10 CoV.

The rate of factioning in WL leads me to believe the values on P99 are currently set much higher than the values observed on live with these logs.

We have yet to get a response REGARDING THE INAPPROPRIATE EXISTENCE OF LUCLIN-ERA FLURRY DRAKES IN NToV (http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182194&page=4), let alone a simple acknowledgment on the matter, over the course of months and months of posting about it, so what's the point in pointing out discontinuity between classic Velious and p99 Velious unless it is game-breaking?

I find a lot of this stuff quite interesting as I have been trying to figure out exactly what is what faction wise in Velious in terms of hits... I would be curious to know the difference between CoV faction hits in GD/EW trash mobs, and Kael / WL faction hits..
I have been currently just farming on my mage between ent in kael to that little pond area towards Plate House, but seems a bit slow faction wise...needless to say grinding CoV seems slow my way, and I can't imagine doing it for my monk and warrior next...

On P99 we killed 2 Flurry drakes and 2 trash mobs (-120 CoV), this dropped some people from Ally to Amiable. That should not happen, most of the time you shouldn't even drop out of Ally, at a max Warmly.

If the faction values could be revised to match the live values that would be fantastic!
