L34 Bard Song (Velious) - Reads that it gives 5 mana/tick, requires Lute.

So I have a Lute of the Gypsy Princess (x2.1 effect or +1.1 effect), and my friend is watching his mana climb: 1259, 1265, 1271, 1277

He's only getting 6 mana per pulse (1 natural and 5 from song), is the instrument not not applying correctly perhaps? We did both tests standing to eliminate that variable.

EDIT:

To be thorough, I wounded myself then played Cantata, and checked the HP regen: 966, 975, 984, 993, 1002. The song gives 4/tick, so this looks like it's being boosted by the lute correctly, but mana is not.

From my recollection, no bard song that gives mana on a tick basis can ever be modified. Only the healing aspect from those songs will get modified.

So the Cantata line will be a flat mana regen, but the HP on the 55 Cantata will indeed increase based on your stringed instrument.

Oh okay, never realized that.

So... back to spamming Chorus of Clarity I guess. ><

On that note, does the instrument mod apply to haste songs at least?

The hp component is modified by the lute, while mana rate seems set in stone. Not sure if even epic modifier can change it. If the wiki is to be believed (and it has hurt my trust in the past) the epic will change the chorus of clarity amount, since it's a singing song.
As far as maximum mana pumping goes have cantana or cantata go once and then pulse the chorus 3 or 4 times before refreshing cantana. The chorus instantly pulses mana in, while the cantana/cantata pump in once per tick, lasting 3 ticks.
I usually do this during med breaks or between pulls, while switching to more combat oriented songs and cantata during the actual fights.

Yeah I agree that the best is pulsing chorus between cantata, just a bummer.

EDIT: Thinking about it...

If you do Cantata, then spam three Chorus, and repeat...

That's 10 mana during the 2 ticks from Cantata, then 21 mana from 3 plays of Chorus--totalling 31 mana over 2 ticks.

If you just spam Chorus, you get 28 mana over two ticks.

I'll just spam, I think. :)

Cantata is 3 ticks, not 2 - always do 1 Part Cantata, 3 Part Chorus!

No need for that. You can do 1 Cantata, 4 Chorus with a /stopsong hotbutton setup and then make a standalone /stopsong followed by a hotkey that clicks BoH by activating the hotkey.

Now you can melee and feed your group mana for days.

You're welcome.

Missed notes ! I like to keep my hotbuttons 1 song per macro for that reason
