Noticed the other day that the Mage spell Cornucopia along with other Enchanter, Necro etc. spells is missing from the merchant in Qeynos.

Is this to try to be "non" Classic ? cause there were 300% ALways this 1 research spell from each caster class available at this merchant in Qeynos (sorry I am not at home now and have forgotten the merchant name).

Just wondered if this is on purpose or mistake, since you did not take out the mage research spells in OOT to force people to do research instead of buying them from vendor.

My Mage on Live was playing from the start of EQ and went thru all the initial fixes and adds to mage pets and all, and my research was at "0" untill i was lvl 50, and I know I baught Cornucopia in Qeynos and had someone making me Everfount.

I am not 100% sure, but think these spells was removed when the big ugly TS rewamp went live

tried to find it on the new Alla, but thing is all rewamped so not much old data available anymore.

I know it's not a proof of classic, but check out PEG server. There the merchant has these spells.

It's not like its a very big thing, but I'll try dwelve a bit into it if i can find any resources of it.

edit:

On this page it also states "Qeynos + research" for Cornucopia" wich is linked from P1999's Library section
http://www.thesilversandbox.net/p1999/main.php

and here:

This merchant always was kinda weired, cause he has this strange selection of spells, but I am still very convinced this is like he always was right from the beginning

Sorry to necro an old thread, but just hit 24 and noticed that Cornucopia was not available in Qeynos. It was definitely classic though.

Castersrealm has 3 direct references to cornucopia being vendor sold, on two different pages.

I brought cornicopia in Qeynos in Herb Jar next to guild, researched everfount. My research skill is 41 and made it on my first try. They are both WELL worth having. 20 food, 20 water every cast, with minimal mana. (http://web.archive.org/web/20011125033209/eq.castersrealm.com/spells/spelldescriptions.asp?Id=251)

The shop keepers may have sold Everfount at one point but do not anymore. I just went there yesterday. I found cornacopia easy. I spent the next 30mins checking ever scroll on each vender, no one in that whole area sold Everfount. I guess it is reserch only unless someone happens to know another city to get it in. If not I guess I keep hunting for words of Transcedence :P Am level 24 now and never seen them. Well... I havent seen most of the stuff we need to reserch spells. I have not been able to get the parts to put together a spell yet. I am hoping this changes at some point... this is part of a broader issue - the two merchants that should be selling cornucopia (and other spells) in s qeynos aren't actually selling any spells at all. these merchants are:

1. khensol undesta, casters guild. spell list (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=2828).

2. caleah herblender, herb jar. spell list (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=2804).

[talking about cornucopia] Sold in S Qeynos - Caleah Herblender (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=9073&page=1&howmany=50#msg105021120137267)

You can buy [cornucopia] from one of the merchants at the herb shop in Qeynos. Otherwise you will need to research it. (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=55&page=1&howmany=50#msg104852682821104)

Spell: Cornucopia
This item can be Vendor Purchased:
South Qeynos
Khensol Undesta @ 288, -623, 6
Caleah Herblender @ 313, -559, 6 (http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_item.php?item=8860)

Instead of starting a new thread I will bump this one and add, Cornucopia was definitely available on the merchant in Qeynos. I have it written in my notes, originally printed in 1999, and I know I had the spell leveling up as I was around 50+ by the time Kunark arrived. I can scan the print out and upload it if you think that will be helpful.

I too was going to start a new thread, but then found this old one, so bump... w/ evidence!

To confirm it is classic, see:

The last post sums it up nicely:

"At level 24, there are literally spells you _cannot_ buy,
namely three of the four pet spells, plus everfount. This
trend will continue at each spell level above 24th. Cornucopia,
by the way, can be purchased from a couple different vendors
in Qeynos, not the ones that supply most of your spells, but
this is the only place that it can be found, reportedly, in fact
some sites continue to insist that it also is research only."

Obviously, no one is going to rage quit over this. Just a nice little thing to fill in the classic.
