Making money as a warrior?

I'm relatively new to Everquest and my Ogre warrior is on the brink of hitting level 8. My main concern is getting money to fund my armor( I don't have the full banded set yet) and weapons. I've bought 3 banded pieces so far and only have about 20p to my name in addition. So I've been wondering how does a warrior that mostly groups make platinum? Especially considering even shitty magical weapons are worth 50+plat. Help me out, please :)

Sounds like you're doing fine for the level. Figure an acceptable rate of growth as having that entry-level magic weapon and full banded by the mid teens. Money comes only slowly to start with.

Turn in every lizard meat and tail you get. Pick up and sell everything that drops. It all adds up. Don't just drop copper unless you have to. Ogre starting area is great if you do meats/tails. Every stack of meat is like 1.3p on turn ins.

It can be difficult to make money in a group. There's always someone who doesn't have autosplit on or someone who loots all of the valuable stuff. That kind of behavior can rob you of a lot of money over time, which is why every group needs a loot nazi. You don't have to be a jerk about it, but making sure everyone has autosplit on and valuable items are rolled for or looted alphabetically is pretty important.

I'm not sure how crowded the ogre/troll starting area is on Green, but farming anything that drops coin and armor/weapons is a good way to make money at lower levels. For you, that would mean froglock tads, froglocks, skeletons, kobolds, lizard men, and mushroom men. Like the poster above me said, keep the lizard meat and tails for quest turn ins. Don't worry too much about XP. Just kill any of these mobs that you come across and the money will add up over time.

Level a plat farming class
Mage, Necro, Druid, etc

Fund your warrior.

Yeah, i kept all the useful items like weapons and sold them, and did the lizard meat quest aplenty, I guess I'm just gonna continue leveling.

You're doing fine! People didn't have banded back in the day this early. You're an ogre so try to loot as much as you can since you can carry it all! Also if you feel people are being lame about loots say alpha on bronze/belts/whatever expensive thing drops and it usually evens out.

...and completely defeat the purpose of Green. I've been loving the struggle of leveling and funding my own melee class as I go. At level 17 I am proud to say I've scraped and saved enough for a full set of banded (minus finding a pesky small mask) plus all of spells thus far.

Most ogre tanks i've group with in the early teens were wearing patchwork/raw hide and did just fine. I have grouped with one SK in full banded and at that level it only helped a little. So don't feel to bad about not having a full set by 13. There aren't many mobs that need magical weaps this early. Elementals and wisps are low-mid teans starting? I am a cleric and almost always the main/only healer so I know how much mana i lose...

I agree but at the same time I'm for proactive solutions to problems. He needs plat for his warrior. The Solution is to level an alt who can generate more plat than his warrior needs. Thus solving Present and Future problems with plat.
