Alot of people don't know how to suppress their inner nerd. It's like...no one here goes around in public telling strangers how many hours they spend on EverQuest (at least I hope not).

That being said, I've doing the LARP thing for close to 12 years, most of which I've spent staffing/plot writing/developing rules. Anyone who makes fun of it is too insecure to try it or has 0 imagination.

You can't really chastise someone for being outside doing a fairly physical activity in a huge social environment, even if they are dressed like an elf throwing pretend spells at each other while getting beat up with plumbing supplies. Not all LARPers are the stereotypical 'fatass nerd'. At the game I mainly go to/staff at we have 5 ex-marines, 2 guys who just got back from Iraq recently, a state trooper (female), 2 ex-pro wrestlers (hardcore indie federation, not like WWF or WCW, but they went to Killer Kowalski's school), a handful of people in the medical field, and the lead admin spent a couple years teaching wilderness survival out west. Sure, we have a few of the standard fatbody computer geeks and the stuck up 'I'm better than you' scrawny douchebags, and from what people have noticed our game is a total anomaly because other games we go to have a majority of the stereotypical LARP nerd.

That's just being an asshole. It's along the same lines as using MQ2 in EQ...why ruin the fun someone else is having? Besides...the foam is easy to take off of the sword...then you're getting beaten in the face with a piece of PVC pipe by someone more than likely more skilled than you.

LOL@SCA thinking they aren't a LARP. Just about everyone I've met from the SCA is a pretentious fuckwit.

THE BIGGEST MEAN ASS ON THE FORUM IS LARPER OMG THIS IS NEWS !!!!!!!!

I am shocked... I never took Ennoia for a larper

Feces 09-20-2011 08:01 PM

This is disturbing.

Challenge accepted (not really, I barely even drink alcohol anymore let alone do anything else...occasional painkiller/xanax that's about it).

One thing Visage may like about LARPing...the majority of LARP chicks are super slutty.

We have masks and special outfits for Elementals. Most 'pets' have a limited duration, and it's usually just controlling an NPC for 10 minutes (NPC Elemental comes out to fight you, cast 'Control Elemental', they listen to you for 10 minutes). Most of the high-fantasy boffer LARPs have rules against making someone strip when they're mind controlled or whatever but alot of the Vampire: The Masquerade LARPs they run during after hours at comic conventions (I hate cosplay nerds, so I've never been) all bets are pretty much off with certain people.

Also, <3 Visage...I have my own thread now centered around something I've loved doing for the past decade+ of my life. You're A-Okay in my book now.
