Zerg is becoming meaningless term

The term Zerg seems so overused. Zerg to me refers to a very very large and overwhelming force it does not mean just a few more players.

It's relative to pop size too, brah.

40+ person guild may be normal on live, but on a couple hundred pop emu server it's zerg.

The question is how many of those 40 are actually on at the same time?

A good Zerg player attacked you with 10 zerglings when you only had 2-3 defenders.

Basically, anytime you attack 1 group with 2 groups+, you are a zerg. But the term originated in EQ when a large group of unskilled players would attack a smaller group of skilled players, and win. This proved that numbers meant more than skill in an MMO. This is why games like WoW were forced to instance their dungeons, to limit the number of people involved in an encounter.

Couple issues I see is you need about 30 ppl to raid the planes as intend by the original devs and to kill the dragons. 2ndly you got ppl like lovely who Rambo pvp and call 3 ppl v her a Zerg.

I think the first time 12p killed Nagafen, we had 28 people in the raid. Since then, it became common to take 40+ people. It really sucks how the raid scene went from 30-35 people before Kunark, to 60+ for Velious.

I always loved how EQ was not limited to a certain amount of people for a raid encounter. I also did not like how EQ made the raids harder and harder to accomodate this. Classic had it right with 1-2 groups for some fun raid trash and 3-4 groups for the raid bosses.

Also Zerg originated from starcraft. . . . . not EQ. Like when 10 zerglings swarmed and killed 2 zealots. Those bitches got zerged.
3v1 isnt a zerg, but 10 v 2 would be. Basically if you see a "swarm" of enemies running at you full speed with no strategy, your ass is getting zerged.
