Sales Pitch

Private Military Police/Troopers

Benefits: Cheaper law enforcement, not paid for by taxpayers, but by cities and communities that hire them, able to weed out “bad/abusive” cops, privately funded equipment, meaning higher grade instead of government issue, able to hire multiple companies to defend certain areas with more force than standard police units, who are spread out

Disadvantages to argue against:

Poor citizens cannot afford policing
Solution: Government “enforcement” waivers that allow a subscription-based payment for protection that either comes out of taxes or exchanges goods to the company from the government.

Criminals covering their own with a company
Solution: regular government inspections of the company, that can determine if the company is corrupt or not, citizen reviews, et al.

How it works:

A private military police force would be employed by communities or entire cities to protect the city from crime, where payment would scale with population and distance to ensure it’s equally covered by enforcers. These privately geared policemen would patrol areas, etc, and operate similarly to a government police force, and would have the same rights to detain/protect life as a government police force. Removal of the current police force would not be necessary, as you could either merge or have the organizations work together to secure the city.

Forces would be either picked from trained individuals (Military, SWAT, FBI, etc) or trained by the company depending on the funds the company has. Background checks would be thoroughly done to ensure there are no “bad apples” so to speak inside the company, which is regularly found inside of government police forces as is, with many cops that abuse their power.
The presence of soldiers in the company with experience would also give them the ability to coordinate with actual military forces in the event of a national emergency, such as an invasion, or homeland security.

would never work... you think police are abusive now?

What you're describing is a mercenary service. Basically protection to the highest bidder.

Do you honestly think they are going to listen to governments inspections? Or pay off the easily corrupt government representatives?

Trust me... the number of "abusive/corrupt" police are a very minor percentile to the good hard working police that want to get bad guys and drug dealers off the streets and who show up at 3AM when you call 911 because someone broke into your house.

It's a good idea if it worked perfectly... but the police would be better ... if they were perfect.

HBB would probably love to chime in on this thread. Too bad he's banned, I suppose!

Thats how fire departments worked up until the 1930's or so lol
