Computer randomly shut's down in game

Doesn't happen in any other game. It either happens 30 seconds after logging in or not at all for days.

Things i've tried:
-Duxa all in one installer(problem persisted before and after)
-Compatibility mode 98 and 95
-Reducing max frame rates to 60
-Turned off loading art, shadows, heavy spell effects, vertex shaders and complex sky
-Tried limiting to 1 core and multiple cores
-Checked graphics card/processor temperature right after restart, not overheating
-Fresh install of EQ
-(edit)Tried updating graphics drivers.

I'm running windows 7 on Titianum edition with 9600 GT graphics and 4 gigs of Ram. Any help is greatly appreciated. The event viewer shows a Critical error right after random shut down that looks like this:

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

When's the last time you upgraded your video card drivers?

Do a full uninstall of the Nvidia Graphics Driver. Get the latest one, and try that.

If that doesn't work, it could be a variety of other things.

Thanks for the amazingly quick response!

My graphics drivers are probably 1 year old so gonna give that a try. I'll let you know if it works.

Tried your suggestion and has been stable the last hour or so. I'll know for sure over the next few days but seems to be working so far.

Thanks for the help Nil.

You could have bad memory in your computer also, causing memory leaks when pulling from your video card. This happened to me often when I played EQ2. Found out one of my sticks was only about 30% active, replaced it and never had the issue again

Another update:

Updating my video card driver did not fix the problem. I've had 3 seemingly random computer restarts when wandering through Dreadlands, Firiona Vie and Oasis of Marr. I don't recall if it was raining each time but it could have been.

Just want to emphasize that this is a p99 only issue for me. I run 2 WoW's, Vanguard, EQ2 and various other games with no issues at all, let alone forcing my computer to restart.

Any other suggestions that I haven't already tried above?

Did your computer blue screen lately before this all started happening?

Was everything fine on it previously? Does it "freeze" for a few moments every so often (not to be confused with someone zoning in)?

...if so, a fresh install of Windows 7 sounds dramatic but could be the cure. I was running through Neriak Commons one time, and out of nowhere the BSOD appeared and claimed the laptop. Managed to get it up and running again, but it wasn't the same (would freeze for about 10 seconds, and then boot me from the server).

Hey thanks for the response!

Everything was fine and is fine as long as I'm not on p99. Never gotten a blue screen in game or out of it. The computer just shuts down out of nowhere and it's to the point where I just can't risk corrupting data to play EQ.

Sometimes p99 is fine for days at a time, next my computer will shut down twice in 1 day. Every other game literally plays flawlessly.

Trying a different power supply would be my next step.

Google is your friend:

KPE 41 is waiting for a device to respond. It's more than likely a specific piece of software you have installed (not p99, but maybe another applications conflict w/ p99) or some hardware. If it persists, I'd suggest posting to a tech support forum for Windows.
