Resist Debuffs and Player looting - EMERGENCY PATCH, MAY 31, 2001

I was researching the Knight defensive skill caps today when I noticed this Hotpatch regarding Resist Debuffs and Player looting

EMERGENCY PATCH, MAY 31, 2001

Quote:

Resist-debuffs will do 1.5 times their normal value for PvP encounters. In other words, if the spell did -60MR in PvP before, it does -90MR in PvP now. PvE (combat versus NPCs) remains unaffected.
Quote:

On all PvP servers, only the person who gets the killing-blow in PvP combat will have looting rights. We would prefer to implement some sort of 'majority damage' logic however this should solve most of the issues associated with uninvolved players 'ninja-looting' the loser in PvP encounters.
Hope this helps.

Hello Doctor, resist debuffs already do 150% in PvP. It is not shown in the client.

Doctor Jeff 05-14-2016 09:40 PM

Thanks, but are you certain that this is the case? The -60MR (should be -90MR in PvP) Malosi, does not make my 184MR Paladin rootable.

Perhaps this is a bug involving the way I tested this. Removed resist gear to allow Malosi to land, reequipped resist gear, and resisted root. Displayed MR with Malosi and MR gear on was 124.
If this is just a graphical bug, it does not explain the other effects.

Edit: You have no reason to be worried about being CC'd as a result of this thread. There is no evidence that any changes have ever been made as a result of a bug report.

I thought the root threshold was 80 MR, not 100.

Would be cool to try rooting someone with and without an MR debuff at various levels of MR by removing gear. Then, you would be able to see if the true MR is actually lower. For instance, if you have 90 displayed MR with no debuff and are not rootable, but at 90 displayed MR with a debuff (but wearing more MR, obviously) you ARE rootable, that would prove the debuff is doing more than it shows.

So, someone else please do this for me.

Just kidding. Let's try it.

I will be down to do this with either you or Enig when I get home on Monday.

bump

Tested with 60 paladin and 60 shaman casting Paralyzing Earth

Resisted root every time at 100 MR, no debuffs
Resisted root 4/6 times at 90 MR, no debuffs

Resisted root every time with 163 MR, no debuffs
Resisted root every time at base 163 MR, with Malosi on (Displayed MR was 103) Edit: True MR should have been 73
Resisted root 3/6 times at base 151 MR, with Malosi on (Displayed MR was 91) Edit: True MR should have been 61

A simple reading of the above post would have revealed that the change didn't work.

that malosi should apply -90 MR in PvP. Even if it was only the client showing my MR to be 103, I should not have resisted every root, because my true mr should have been 73

Edit: I would encourage you to try it yourself if you played here.

Also, currently you do not have to deliver the killing blow to receive loot rights in PvP.

you're talking to the person who tested this more than anyone else and figured out these values (the forum search also reveals this)

The resist threshhold for root is most certainly not <75MR, evidence in earlier post.
