+1 for Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring also gives a buff (grim aura) that some consider a junk buff. Very useful against mobs who debuff as you can instantly refresh it.

The Telescope & Kromzek Surveyor Scope are your entry level items. These are something every caster starting out should have imho. Very cheap and or can even be obtained for free by asking around. Zoom effect is uber annoying.
Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring is the next step up. 1.5k - 2k junk buff (no more annoying zoom)
