The issue is not one of whether or not it would be a reasonable thing for them to keep us updated - it might, or it might not be, depending upon the circumstances.
The issue is that some folks forget too easily that we are owed NOTHING. These guys do this as a passtime, a hobby. It might be a passion one for them, but nonetheless, we are not customers. They owe us zilch. If they choose to tell us something, great. But nobody should act as if we are "owed".
