I bet the IRL apocalypse will be a lot like the MMO apocalypse... people will just bot and automate until only the bots are left digging through the trash heap looking for gold to repair themselves with.

Anyone who survives apotheosis (apophis) will be competing with these bots over the scraps of our civilization.

The irony being. Most people are already soulless and so indoctrinated and conditioned. They are the bots and automation of the elites. Doesn't matter that they are biological. The point is they are efficient at consolidating and controlling wealth and power and limiting knowledge and freedom for their peers.
