Default old everquest alternative to eqemu

Heya

There was an p1999 alternative in the making like 10 years ago. It was the big "real" 1999 Everquest deal but the guys working on it were slower than the eqemu guys. They had a Roadmap where several Goals of the programming were already 100 % completed. I cant for the love of god remember the name of that website or the projects name. anyone remembers the name ?

I think you're referring to "eqclassic" which was gonna basically be p99 using the "trilogy" client, which was a physical packaged release of vanilla+kunark+velious that came out before luclin. But they had no codebase. I think that's roughly correct.

they actually had the trilogy client in a pretty workable state from the testing i was involved in and this was long enough ago that they actually got a C&D letter from sony that scared a couple of the devs off iirc

Yeah those eq classic devs required 100% perfection in order to launch

It would still be in development today

So from my understanding, a lot of the work that went into eqclassic ended up being in The Al'Kabor Project which Project Quarm is based on. Secrets was apparently part of the drama that ended up sinking eqclassic and she goes over it in a podcast episode. So if you are playing on Quarm, that is basically the latest form of that original project.

Wow, is that true? TAKP had eqclassic code in it? I thought eqclassic was just an abyss of labor and hope so that's a good thing. I miss Lucid Vision!!! That was such a fun half baked server
