Yes it is someone's opinion, it's the server Dev's opinion, and opinion of many on the server. Why do you friends care? There are dozens of other servers that allow boxing, go play there, your friends simply have a different opinion on boxing.
Boxing imo is toxic to the social interaction EQ requires over other games in order to progress, even limiting it to 2-boxing here takes almost every loot camp in the game and makes it "Soloable" by a single 2-boxer.

How about...
Is it 2 boxing IF... You have a client at character select screen and a client that has a character in the game? And you log the in game character before logging in the other? Is it 2 boxing IF... You /exit and swap accounts quickly. If you happen to swap so quickly, one account is still in game LD?

If bpoth chars are parked next to each other on question 2 and you perform and action on the other account, still being controlled by you, then that is boxing because your cheating the ip block system to give an unfair benefit to 2 different chars within a 10-15 second window. /Lawyerquest

No, not really. Seems like a gray area as mentioned. Guarantee people take advantage of this often.

Having one character on charselect and another in game is not boxing, the clients must both be logged onto a character for it to count as boxing.
However, people have been suspended in the past for abusing an IP exemption to get an advantage while swapping characters (tracker -> COH/puller/tagger/whatever), so I wouldn't recommend it. The purpose of an IP exemption is for two people on two machines to play from the same IP, not so one person can have a speed advantage on character swaps. If you're worried about this, camping out or /q /ex and then waiting 30 seconds (like you would for /camp) is plenty to keep you off our radar.
