Each of the noteworthy innate racial bonuses ought to have had a negative aspect tacked on. Certain very powerful spells work in this manner. The lingering effects from resurrection. Decreased movement speed from torpor. Even alcohol consumption puts stats in the red. I suppose the one negative that comes with having FSI is being so large, as that hinders movements through indoor dungeons and all but requires shrink.

At least attempting to min/max would be more fun if there were numerous factors to take into account, then the debate would go beyond this or that, FSI or HP regen.

I think faction was supposed to be a part of the negative aspects for those racials. It's largely irrelevant later on but you do really feel it when starting new.

faction and cumbersome size never become irrelevant. players can eventually mitigate them, sure. but players can also mitigate racials (stats) through gear. FSI is an outlier but it's not like you need FSI to raid tank for the biggest baddest guilds, or solo big bad content, etc etc. gear is king
