Yes, you can retire/deguild instead of permadeath. Some people aren't terribly pleased with that. But, it's just a little too masochistic to delete a char I've played for 40-50 hours imo, especially when they fill a gap in my TOON STABLE.

I would like to propose, however, toons that are not deleted must take on a surname such as:

Dead
Fallen
Slain

etc

I for one, am a purist. I will NEVER deguild/retire. DELETE OR GTFO.

But, to each there own I guess.

Well, I did give it a try...

First char, a Half-Elf Rogue from Freeport never made it to the Rogue Guild...got slain by an Ogre in Seafarer's Roost. Man, these ogres are mean !!

Second Char, a Human Paladin from Qeynos, was stupidely killed by a skeleton (not a decaying one) in the newbie zone...

I guess I suck at this...

Well, an update for you all, it happened to me again! Sorry to my group, we really tried to break that Orc 1 camp in East Commonlands! I was literally 10ft from the zoneline to Nektulos after running for my life while 00M from chain summoning my pet 3 times to try and hold off 1 of the 2 Legionairres that came on the pull. My group was literally warned only minutes before this pull happened to, oh well! That's the way it goes in <No Time To Rez>

How do you prove that someone isn't just running back to their character, looting and continuing on? I like the idea of this, and it seems fun. But seems like a lot of possibilities of people cheating the system.

Yeah, if you're a big jerk face you could probably get away with this.

The only chance of you being caught would probably be if a third party, i.e. someone you were grouped with or nearby at your time of death, saw it happen, was familiar with the guild, and sent proof to another guild member.

Seems like a lot of trouble to go through. That being said, it also seems like a lot of trouble to go through just to cheat the system, or not play by the rules. I joined last night and from what I can see from the discord/players in game, everyone's very friendly.
