Default Necro / mage population?

What exactly is the necromancer and magician population like on p99? Is it crazy high? I love both classes equally but also enjoy grouping, what is it like trying to find groups as these predominantly solo classes?

Also is racial exp penalties a thing here still?

There are a lot more necros than mages on the server but I wouldn't say either are crazy high.

This may be unfair or wrong but I don't see a ton of levels 60s of either class largely because they aren't in high demand for raiding.

Class exp penalties have been removed but racial still exist.

I think a lot of people burn out on necros. It can be a lonely life that is difficult at times.

Mage's don't have the solo all the treasures sterotype so I think that steers some folks away.

Epic mages are worth while on raids, IF they are allowed to use their Epic pet. The epic pet out dps or dps about the same as a Epic geared Monk on raid targets. (close)

EDIT---

Oops. Racial xp yes. I wouldn't worry about playing one or the other. Just play what you like.

I don't have an exact number, but they are less frequent than their melee dps counterparts. If you are going to play a necro be careful where you ruin your faction as you level. Killing dragonkin in kunark makes it harder to help pull in VP, killing in DN makes fixing your chetari faction a serious pain. Killing in SG disallows you to roam freely with a faction neck. Killing in HS kills your faction in the OT outpost, which I don't think you can fix easily.

If you play a necro, 100% ruin your VS faction. HS is too good not too. Too easy to buy your spells on an alt/have guildie pick them up/buy them before you start HS.
