Most foreign research is in collaboration with US companies, luckily, and a lot of those projects are research on major diseases like cancer, alzheimers, antibiotics, or what stem cells can do for regenerative medicine. Dick pills and new opiates aren't considered worth while to a lot of firms, but they have huge market potential for firms in the USA; it's where that research money gets spent is the differing factor. What baffles me is that people have and perpetuate a notion that medical science is somehow better and different in the USA than else where which is more an indicator that marketing and PR methods work.

It's in and pretty horrific. Miss a payment and have a lapse in coverage= wait 6 months to qualify again and they can charge you 30% more in premiums for a year.
