Archers in RL, WRU?
I bought my kid a 18 lb drawback compound bow for his birthday. The thing is pretty damn cool. I am thinking about buying myself one but unfortunately don't know much about them. I'd like to eventually hunt with it but also have something strong enough for home defense. I know that sounds silly but my wife doesn't believe in guns so im SoL when it comes to firepower.
Anyways if you are avid with a bow hit me up in pm or here. This is something I really want to get into.

There are lots of rabbits where I live (desert) so I was thinking that would be a good start once I learn to skin them and what not.

You would probably be better off with CS or pepper spray for home defense than a bow.
I have a PSE Mustang that I shoot for fun, and I would recommend it or any of the rest of the PSE line to a new shooter. It is a recurve, so the entry cost is low, and you can shoot it for years with no hassle or set up. If you fall in love with bow hunting you can always spring for a $500 compound later. That said, you will never out grow a recurve. It is just a different style than a compound and it will take down a deer or hog just the same. | ||

ya i almost got a recurve for him but the salesman suggested the compound. i was semi kidding for the home defense hehe but note taken. only cost 35 dollars and honestly im surprised how accurate and powerful it is. it was listed as a junior bow but the thing is doing some serious damage to the tree behind this cardboard box im shooting at.
its called the lil banshee [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

That's awesome. I have a decent acreage and a hankering for some bunny killin.
Also I'm Canadian and near a major city - guns need not apply. If you take the plunge and get another one keep us posted.

Compounds are for old men. Real manly men shoot traditional. Something very satisfying about using nothing but a stick and a string. Plus...its like 10x lighter than a compound when you are wandering around the woods!
Not to mention you get a toy and a work of art in one purchase. We have a guy here local who makes amazing bows. Can choose your own woods and inlays etc. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
