Default Is the compass disabled too?

After initially struggling thanks to my woeful personal sense of direction, I'm liking not having an ingame map (let's face it, it's more like a sat nav in most games). But the compass also doesn't come up - is that also deliberate? Would be handing for getting my bearings.

The compass used to be ingame, but they took it out because it wasn't a classic feature.

Put sense heading on a hotbar and then bind it to the secondary keys for your movement keys so that it gets used every time you're moving. It'll be maxed in like 1 day of playing then you can use that to get your cardinal direction figured out.

Great tip! I do this on every fresh character and Sense Heading is usually maxed by like level 5.

Nah, do it oldschool and throw a dagger on the ground. It'll always point north. Then figure your heading and go for it. It's a lot more fun!

Seriously though, bind that sense heading to movement key.

There used to be a log parser out there that you could do /loc in game that would show where you are on a map of an external app. This kind of tool wouldnt get you banned.

Anyone remember that?

Will it come back with Velious?

I starting playing in 2000 and am fairly sure that the compass was there, if not, it was there shortly after.
