They are being awfully quiet about it, I know as much as anyone else, their front page hasn't seen an update since July 26th. It wasn't so much as an update, as to just let everyone know its still a work in progress, and they haven't abandoned the project.

Alright you've been added to our player roster on the first post, and we're definitely going to Hibernia from the get go. I strongly advise people to make a caster type for their first char, atleast until we start getting some melee gear drops, otherwise you'll be leveling a melee with no gear until we start hitting some dungeons as a group. Champion is an excellent class, I liked it alot when I played one on Uthgard back in 2011.

For RvR especially, atleast 1 Bard and 1 Druid per group are needed, but 2 Druids would be better ofcourse, 1 Warden, 2-3 DPS and 1 Shield Tank for defense.

Looks like they finally made an actual update on their front page, dated October 25th.

Follow-up post made by another Uthgard Dev, Abydos, to further clarify what was being said in the first post.

This shouldn't be underestimated and we have previously said bad designs early on made it very difficult to patch things in the past. Some of these "past sins" make it incredibly difficult to continue. Remember DOL is a very old project now and has had many hands in the cookie jar. Also, early designs were sometimes implemented based on incomplete research or outright guesses. This lead to a patchwork quilt that made implementing "real daoc" difficult. Anyone who played the first few days after the LA styles got different procs by class knows that there was some difficulty as we worked out the kinks. This is more than, "I don't like how this is written, I'm going to make it better!" Its "There is no way to write ABC with these letters. We need to discard."

When the server is ready to go, we'll let you know. There is no "one goal" holding it up. Work continues on all fronts. -Abydos [Uthgard Dev]
