Default Rogue: Sneak cancelling hide?

Hi all,

I'm a level 38 rogue with 195 sneak and hide. I can't remember the last time I failed either skill. That said, every now and then when I do my combo (Hide > Sneak) my hide seems to get cancelled. I play in 3rd person with see invis up and my name gets the parentheses around it, but then they disappear when I hit sneak, and mobs only treat me as sneaking (indif behind, normal faction in front). I get a success message for both skills AND in the proper order (hide then sneak). I should also note that the hide skill isn't being "reset." In other words, I have to manually cancel hide (or sneak and move) for it to repop.

Is this intended? Or a known bug? Am I pressing my hotkeys too quickly? I never played a rogue on live, so I'm not confident in how it should operate, and I thought I'd post here before I reported it as a bug.

Thanks!

Why not hit sneak first?

I always had sneak first and then hide on the hotkey. No problems.

Show proof of your experience, so we know if you know what you're talking about

I'm experiencing the same thing on my rogue.

^ I believe this is the cause of the problem

Always sneak first and always stand still while doing it, even though sneak is usable while moving. EQ is wonky like that sometimes.

I don't use a macro for sneak and hide, either.

Thanks for the replies, all. Not sure why I got it in my head to hide then sneak, but sneak -> hide seems to be working great.

I don't have a "stealth" macro either; just tap both individual hotbuttons.

Nor should you. There's very few beneficial macros for rogues besides evade macros and a corpse key.

I used to use evade macro but I got bored. So now it's 121 3 rinse and repeat.
