nah...the blame lies on the guy who shouldn't be playing. EvE is a grief game and anyone playing 23 Mackinaws simultaneously in low-sec without at least a merc crew deserves to be ganked.

Mattini gave the guy's in-game name and told people to find him and "make him kill himself." Whether he actually meant that literally is something only Mattini knows. I'd bet a lot of people extended support to the poor guy too...EvE isn't played by just sociopaths, lol.

I'm not condoning what Mattini did. But if you understand EvE...you understand why he did what he did.

Some people should NOT play EvE...like the poor sap that had 23 Mackinaws blown to oblivion...it's sounding like he was actually in Alliance space...with NO protection...and he needs psychological help, not a game where he can be griefed and get THAT depressed because he himsef does something stupid. He could have stayed in .5 space or better...since CONCORD reaction times were increased, suicide gankers would not attempt any Mackinaw unless they were willing to lose a ship without much of a return, if any.

It's worth mentioning that people will claim their mothers are dying, they have cancer and have a week to live, and all kinds of other stuff to keep from getting griefed in-game. Who's to say everything the guy said wasn't a con to make the griefers feel bad and return ISK? If you know EvE, you know that's definitely in the realm of possibility.

You guys didn't watch the actual panel. The guy that was boxing 23 accounts simultaneously sent MITTENS, CEO of the most infamous corporation in the history of EVE, a sob story about how his wife left him and he was really depressed and the only thing that brought him joy was mining with no support in lowsec. Mittens said "here is the dudes in game name. Have fun, make him kill himself if you feel like it." the guy was obviously playing out a huge sobstory and the whole thing is just retarded

Remember that post Sirken made? About the guy in Britain going to jail for posting on twitter that he hopes some footballer dies?

Well... this is an open, public forum. And this Mattini fellow didn't just say he hopes the guy dies; he publicly called for people to grief the guy in the hopes that he would kill himself.

It's not too far away to say that he could be faced with an arrest if the guy charged him.

tbh i dont think the majority of the populations sole intention is to grief. its not like you are going to see a video of vets giving out ships and billions of isk to new players. although the learning curve is steep, people bend over backwards to help new pilots figure this game out.
