Default Druid run kiting DoTs nerfed?

I posted a thread on General requesting comment about classic EQ druid run kiting DoTs. I have spoken to several old timers (Druids) that played original EQ through the expansions like I did, and none remember a nerf in DoT damage due to run kiting. If you played a druid in the original EQ classic, could you please comment on this. I know Verant patched and over patched spell effects, so I think the Sony patch logs do not tell the complete story. Thanks

I remember them nerfing it before Kunark came out. I was playing a druid at the time.

All DoT classes recieved this nerf. DoTs only do 2/3's damage if the mob is chasing you but full damage if it's feared, rooted or running away when under 20%.

This gets patched back to full damage during Velious.

Actually, it was in Luclin, so we most likely will not be seeing it here.

"Removed the reduction in damage to Damage over Time spells when used on NPCs that are moving."

If you're a druid, the solution is pretty easy - if you are snare kiting just nuke it instead of dotting, the nuke uses slightly more mana but the mob then dies alot faster and u have that time to med. It's all a wash.

There's really no reason for the dot nerf to be around, and by the time it was reduced in Luclin DoTs were so gimpy compared to all other forms of damage that DoTs needed a considerable buff.

The roots of the nerf were people flipping out after release that casters could *gasp* solo monsters. Some druids and shaman were even going so far as to solo even and yellow con mobs, and that was just too much for people on crowded bluebie servers to witness.

Really, that's why dots got nerfed. People were livid that someone was spending 20 minutes solo'ing one red con mob.
