Best way to record video of my screen

Hey dudes, I am working on a training program for my job and I was wondering if anyone could give advice on recording video of my screen. I need to make video of what I am doing in Excel and on PDF files.

Any advice/recommendations would be great.

Nah, best is direct hardware. Fraps is a quite reasonable solution, however.

I am trying out Fraps, but it only seems to be recording in a game. It won't let me start recording unless a game is running, and then only in that screen.
