She didn't "have" to die. You don't shoot to kill. You shoot to stop the aggression. You aim for the center of mass because Hollywood movies aren't real and pistols are not precision implements. That someone happens to die is unfortunate, but not necessarily a given. People survive being shot much more often than not. Did the police officer walk over and plug her half a dozen more times once she was motionless on the ground to make sure? There's a wide difference between stopping aggression and purposely killing someone.

Exactly, the point was to stop the threat, not to kill. If he aims for the legs, arms, or head, he will likely miss or hit a bystander or the victim herself. This idea that cops are on some murderous quest is ridiculous.

See here’s the issue. In no way do I think she’s innocent, (you can probably put me in the liberal camp here) I just don’t think she had to die because of it.
Someone isn’t familiar with firing guns

I dont want a person with 2-4 weeks of training shooting in my direction to save me, Id rather I got stabbed than accidentaly shot.

the girl in the pink track suit was incredibly lucky she is not also dead of gunshot wounds.

Cops shouldn't be thought of as super human guardians that are there to protect us from danger.

That's just not what their role is or should be.

If she is willing to do that in front of a cop (just think about that) it is likely she would have tried to kill someone else in the future. The cop likely prevented more than one murder.

Admittedly, it is entirely possible that both women would have survived the scuffle if the cop just sat back and watched, but when someone crosses the peaceful line of society, and tries to flay a victim in broad daylight, they forfeit any sympathy or pity. Clearly the victim couldn't defend herself, so it was administered by someone whose job it is to protect and serve. If vulnerable people can't turn to cops in life or death situations, when the cop is right there... fantastic policing job. He had the situational awareness to ignore the guy soccer kicking the person in the foreground and stopped a murder.

It is sad someone died, and people have to examine what would lead to someone becoming a murderer.
Is it possible to use a taser?

I’m relatively ok with this use of force, but it does seem like the impulse from a lot of officers is shoot first, ask questions later. I think america can do better. We stopped Japan and Germany but we can’t solve our extreme levels of violence compared to other industrialized countries? I disagree, I think we can solve every problem that comes our way. That’s how dad did it

If a 16 year old is knifing people, her parents and everyone genetically related to her need to be removed from society and banned from reproducing. We need to stop this shit BIGLY

English as a second language? Another foreigner commenting on American politics. You don’t get an opinion until you reach 2% of GDP on defense and buy your F-35s
