Default Windows Notifications/updates crashing game

Whenever my windows decides to ask if I want to run a program (and dims the screen) it causes my game to go black but still playable but then I have to /exit out and restart to fix it. I'm running the game with the default UI is there anyway to fix this problem without having to switch UI's?

I have heard this has happened to someone else and they told me their only solution was to switch UI's.

Might try hitting alt + enter a few times (usually 2-3 to cycle back to normal view) to see if that will re-correct itself

This - Control Panel > Users > Change User Account Controls > Slide the bar from what's probably near the top to the complete bottom and reboot.

You shouldn't get those pesky messages again.

I've had my screen go super dark a few times when launching another copy of WinEQ2 (different scenarios but *maybe* the same thing).

My fix for it is to go into Options > Display Tab > nudge the Gamma up and then back to what it was previously set to. This seems to correct the brightness.
