Default Attack speed/successful hit & mouse steer

Why does it seem like you swing slower, miss more when you mouse steer (right click hold and left click to move forward) compared to using just the keyboard? Going back years to live it always seemed like there was a noticable difference.

Generally steering with the mouse isn't good. I'd look into getting a cheap steering wheel if you play melee characters and care about dps.

Your attack speed and hit rate actually improve while auto running is engaged. The trick is to continuously strafe tight circles around your target. The steering wheel mentioned above (or alternately a joystick controller) really make this easier.

If your group mates get annoyed just explain that it is actually helping you kill the mob faster.

Cool

it because you splitting the game focus on two different things, so it not able to think as quickly. 2 button = half the focus for each.

I've been using a steering wheel on my top parsing rogue for years. Surprised this is only being mentioned now. I thought everyone knew.

Thought I was tarded didn't you?

+1 everyone, years ago on live I would swear to my roommates using the mouse while auto attacking was slowing things down. Hard to tell on my old sk but with a monk it's pretty obvious there is something going on

I remember using the mouse and strafing around to BS the mobs when soloing/pvping on live. you just need a little desk space is all.

The joystick setups used in MechWarrior are also useful if you don't have the Classic USB VGA idk, serial port? Steering Wheel that came with the Ruins of Kunark boxset.
