Opt-In item loot?
There seems to be a lot of division on the issue of item loot, so I'm offering this solution.
Let players Opt-In to item loot via a Priest of Discord type quest or something similar, once you Opt-In you can never change back. Players who are flagged for Item-Loot can loot items from other flagged players and vice-versa. When a non-flagged player is involved, they can not loot items or have their items looted. Coin is always lootable. Thoughts?

I foresee each group rolling around with one person item flagged so that they can loot every item flagged person.

I guess my point is, it doesn't really matter in the middle of a battle who is flagged and who isn't and whoever tries to choose targets or assign kill shots because of this probably isn't going to win.

Even if the scenario you give is accurate, why does it matter? If someone chose to opt-in for item looting, that is the risk that they accept to and take. This server should at the very LEAST have opt-in item looting. It will not affect any of you that cry about it in the very least, and will keep those of us that want it somewhat content.

It could be made so that it isn't readily apparent who's an itemloot character. If you can't tell until you try to loot the guy, you can't really cheese the system. Eventually it'll become known who of the more well-known players are itemloot, but it would at least help. Would largely prevent bullshit like "guys, I just saw someone with itemloot on! Quick, bring the guild's itemloot twink!"
