Even if the scenario you give is accurate, why does it matter? If someone chose to opt-in for item looting, that is the risk that they accept to and take. This server should at the very LEAST have opt-in item looting. It will not affect any of you that cry about it in the very least, and will keep those of us that want it somewhat content.

It could be made so that it isn't readily apparent who's an itemloot character. If you can't tell until you try to loot the guy, you can't really cheese the system. Eventually it'll become known who of the more well-known players are itemloot, but it would at least help. Would largely prevent bullshit like "guys, I just saw someone with itemloot on! Quick, bring the guild's itemloot twink!"

Great idea. Player choice. Stuff that doesnt effect anyone but the player themselves.
But this has been argued for other things too, such as yellow text toggle or luclin models.

Opt in doesnt make sense. No one is going to opt in when they are grinding..and this is exactly when item loot spices things up. No one is going to opt in when they are planning on just griefing either.
Net Result? No one will opt in. Bad idea.

People who didn't have item loot on would have a large advantage in PvP as they could wear droppable gear without needing to bag.
