asked Bing about MUDs written in Python and it pointed me to https://www.evennia.com/

Quote:
Evennia MUD/MU* Creation System

Evennia is an open-source Python-based framework, codebase and server for creating text-based multiplayer online games (aka MUD/MU* etc) using modern technologies and tools.
join their Discord and tell em you're on a mission from God to make a MUD.

edit: yeah this shit is totally doable lol

Sure, I'll make a note of Evennia MUD/MU* Creation System for you. It's a Python-based MUD/MU* creation system that provides a framework for building text-based online multiplayer games. You can find more information and resources on their website at evennia.com.
I'll state quickly also the decision to use Python for the "game engine", "backbone", "database" parts or whatever is cuz I heard how Python's strength lies in analysis and data and such. From a completely ignorant perspective I think it would lend itself to what I day dream about. Other than that, my motivation was moving for the sake of motion. It seems like any kinda game idea out there was able to at least function regardless of what language it started in. I have no other criteria to base this decision. Except also, I've read Python is relatively easy to learn from many others.

Is there anything anyone with knowledge could point out to let me know if I've made some glaring oversight? Otherwise I'm assuming I'm better of just sticking with whatever I've arbitrarily chosen and not getting hung up on if I'm investing time into "most optimized" path or platform for this.

I think that's gonna be the hardest part is grinding through the self motivation to get that GG ring. Dinking around learning the lingo to make stupid stuff like BMI calculators and tick tack toe is gonna kill me.

The LLM AIs are designed in Python and R-Project, so it should be fairly decent at assisting you in designing your MUD in python.

That's one of the books I saw referenced from the Python website. To someone with no knowledge of Python would you say your experience with it was good enough to recommend on the basis of seeing it referenced twice in one day. I mean, I suppose if I'm going to tell the internet that I'm learning Python I should buy at least "a book on Python"

I haven't finished it yet, but from a friend of mine who works in high end network security he says it's probably the best entry level project based text there is in the subject matter, and not to cheap out on the older editions. He also says the "Automate the Boring Stuff with Python" is really good too.
