i really dont mind this since it legitimizes bike travel and the cyclist's right as a vehicle to be on the road. A lot of Americans just don't think you should even be on a bike, even when you're doing something harmless like riding down the shoulder of a highway with only thru-traffic. I ride a single speed, mostly because my rides don't need gears. ABQ is pretty flat, if I wanted to go mountain biking, I would have purchased a mountain bike. For inner-city riding, my single speed is fine.

Nah nothing wrong with Fixed for casual riding... I recently bought a Trek FX 7.5 ... compared to my starter comfort bike (specialized expedition) it feels like I am riding on rainbows!
