Default Another Monk twink thread

Thinking of rolling my first Monk (Iksar). I have (or will soon have) about 10k to twink him with. What would y'all recommend as the best bang for my buck?

Only obvious thing I'm sure of is two 55hp rings (~450pp).

EDIT: Okay, based on the other threads and a some more research, here is what I've come up with so far. What do the Monk experts think?...

2H Weapon - Mrylokar's Gift - decent ratio (25/43) - ~250pp
Waist - FBSS (~7k)
Fingers - 2xFire Plat Wedding Rings (~450)
Arms - Azure Sleeves - cheap AC
Back - HBC - already have
Ears - 2xForest Loops?? (~1k)

Fill the rest up with Wu's or something light and cheap...unless there is something specific I should shoot for?

Thanks, I thought about WQS, but it's so dang heavy (9.0). I guess the ratio (23/28) more than makes up for the weight difference with the 4.5 wt Mrylokar's (25/43) linked above?

I'm assuming AC>all for those random slots.

Anyone that tells you AC matters on this server doesn't know what they are talking about.

And taking a 25/43 over a 23/28 because of a few AC lose is just as bad.

Well I know for a fact that AC is a game changer for my SK main. I'm just not sure if the same is true for Monks or not.

I agree that the 23/28 is obviously superior, and worth the loss of a few AC.

I'm not sure what they go for, or often they are even being sold, but if you can afford it, and find someone who happens to be selling one, Sash of the Dragonborn > FBSS. Has AC (2, laugh), and 3% more haste.

Used that bad boy on my Monk in live for years.

Saw one going today for 10k. They've been steadily dropping along with the FBSS (6-7k).

I used a pair of diamondine earrings which you can usually score for something like 1.2-1.5k a set. Full set of Wu's is definitely cheap and decent starting stuff. I still have a few pieces even at 49 I haven't worked on replacing yet. Drolvarg Mantle is good and you can get it for about 50-100pp. Fire Emerlad Golden Bracelet is the best wrist I've found for Iksars that doesn't break the bank going for about 150pp each. I'd also look into Executioners Hood, Sarnak-Hide mask, maybe Gem Inlaid Gaunts for hands.

It does matter, just to what extent (hardcap/softcap) is unkown.

Take off all of your gear and see how many times you get hit for max.

Then put it back on and report back here.

To the OP:

2x Diamondine Earrings or 2x Opalline Earrings
Sapphire Platinum Necklace
Platinum Ruby Veil
2x Platinum Fire Wedding Rings
2x Jade Bracers (2ac 15hp) or Wu's or Bracers of Erollisi
Azure Sleeves
Gem Inlaid Gaunts
Wu's Shoulder
Wu's Chest
Hooded Black Cloak
Wu's Legs
Wu's Feet
FBSS
Wu's Quivering Staff

Going on what you said you allready have, the stuff you don't should only cost around 2k or so and it won't really hamper your weight restriction.

Should be almost identical in DPS at level 30.
