fuck is there any new games out like this? im debating reinstalling it if i can even get it to run, but i was hoping thered be a 2005+ version of something similar

You could try Evil Genius, you build a lair for your well, evil genius. Place traps, hire mercenaries, etc..

There is also theme hospital, dungeon overlord (a browser based game) and there was one more with a space theme, cant seem to remember the name atm.

I enjoyed evil genius the most. Still not as good as any of the DK games.
