which knight?
I played P99 ages ago and have been playing a mage and enjoying it and im ready to start gearing the char I actually want to play, a tank, I really dont plan to raid so war is out, my question is should I go pally or SK? is there a difference in desirability in the 50 + group game where most groups want a SK or a pally etc or does it not matter and a tank is a tank? I have played a SK here to 45 before and never really leveled a pally past 10, is pallys agro decent? basically just looking for any input / suggestions , thanks in advance.

Most pugs will range whay they can get. Paladins aggro is great for grouping. SK is as well. Play what you want. Either should be fine.

You can solo far better on a SK than you can on a Paladin, also your move ability around dungeons and zones is far superior as you have both invs in addition to a CoS pre nerf which is instant.
You can also single pull while soloing fairly easy. Paladins are amazing group tanks and by far strip a SK of grouping qualities how they suffer big time when it comes to soloing/duo's etc. Your decision basically comes down to this: Do I wanna play a knight that I can solo/farm with and still tank in groups? Or Play a less soloable class but shine in groups more. (I love paladins but truth is SKs are way more inclinded for soloing, you can level a sk albeit slowly in alot of places 50-60 solo). Take for example Giant Fort in Burning Woods. A Paladin would struggle to solo 1 giant there, but an SK could fear kite one around nps while waiting for a group in KC etc. | ||

If I had to choose I'd rather have a paladin in my group. Paladin utility and backup heals (along with buffs and supplementary Rez at high level) make them more attractive in a PuG situation.
As for which I'd rather play personally - that one is harder. Sk with FD and instant invis is very mobile and a lot more self-reliant in a pinch. They're both great classes worth playing and having in your group. Their only drawback is the terrible damage they put out.
