Default starting stats for int casters?

What do the pros put all their starting stats into? Do you find it a breeze going over 200 int wearing full resist gear even without maxing int on creation, or is it actually useful to pump 25 into int? If not, what do you put your points into? I assume stam only gives like 2 or 3 hp per point, right?

Thanks but that thread really doesn't answer my question. Wizards and the like don't have the luxury of getting 80 - 90 points of int from a shaman buff like melee do for strength and it also doesn't deal with specific gear set-ups which is what I am mostly concerned with. Obviously I can max my int easily if I'm wearing int gear; what I'm curious about is how raiders who are wearing their specific resist sets, be it magic / fire / disease etc find their int levels after maxing that specific resist.

Uhm, I'll have to check, but even with all resist gear my int is pretty high. I'm at like 247 int in mana-pool mode. Though I am an Erudite too and have high starting int.

Dark Elf wizard. Raiding; why would someone wear full resist gear for grouping, soloing, or farming?

If you plan on having him raiding before Velious, you could stack int with some in stam.

If you plan on having him raiding for Velious, you could stack all stam.

Pre velious you will lose a great deal of int for resist gear raiding content avail. While 200int is the soft cap, you still gain mana for going over (enough I might add to not shoot at stopping at 200int).

Post velious, with raiding gear from kunark, you will most likely have your int maxed as a DE wizard without putting points into int starting out. Getting more epic raiding gear with resists/int you won't have to worry about your int dropping severely low.

That's my take on it anyhow. There are a great deal of factors to take into account. Availability of a raiding guild, the number of competing classes for your gear and most obviously, your luck with getting drops before velious and after.

(note: Starting stats will not make or break your character)

You get like 2.5 HP/STA as a caster at 60. So 25 points in stamina will give you 60HP. Do you really want to gimp your character until Velious for 2% more HP?
