Cultural Smithing (High Elf)
I do High Elf Cultural smithing. And so far, I've had my cultural hammer get "eaten" on successful combines on 3 different occasions. It's happened twice in the last hour. My most recent combine was doing an Imbued Elven Chain Cape. The components are as follows.
Elven Smithy Hammer, 3x Enchanted Mithril Rings, Chainmail Cloak Pattern, Silk Swatch Moonlight Temper, Imbued Emerald. I've done a lot of cultural smithing, and never had this happen until recently. Character Kailan, most recent occurrence happened around 1:13 pmish CST.

I noticed this awhile back, but it wasnt getting eaten per say. for some reason it was turning into a file. if i used the file as if it was the hammer, it would work as the hammer and appear as a hammer once again.

I'll check again, but when I did the combine all I received was the cloak, nothing else.

Found my logs of the hammer getting eaten after a series of successful combines. It did not turn into a file.

so both of you lost it on the cloak combine. that might be worth looking at.

after a little research this might actually be classic.
per EQTC: example 1: notice what it shows as being returned [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] now example 2: This is the cloak. what is missing? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] This could very well be a long running bug that was never corrected on live and came to us in the EQEMU source code. That or the devs have more attention to detail than i give them credit for. its the only example i could find that says nothing about the hammer being returned.

Thanks for finding that Catherin. What you've said is possible. However, is it also possible that the website goofed and just didn't include it, and the devs followed suit?
Just a thought. Assuming nothing is done about it, just got to factor in an extra 10pp into the cost of the cloak. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'll see if I can test it on live.

Finally managed to try this out on live. Recipe returns the hammer. No comments about losing the hammer anywhere on Alla's entries for either the item or the recipe.
