Default Uh oh...is work pulling the plug?

Please read below. I play EQ every now and then at work during my down time with a Kingston flash drive from home. Am I screwed? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Employee News:

1. Subject: IRONKEY – what it is, why it’s important and what you need to do.

What to Know:
• IT&S is launching a series of security initiatives to ensure all confidential information, especially medical and patient information, is safe from loss or theft.
• The first in this series of upgrades is the implementation of IronKey USB flash drives, which are fully encrypted portable memory drives that require a password to access any saved files or information.
• All employees (clinical and non-clinical) – including those employed by affiliates and joint ventures – who use portable USB drives to transfer computer files and information must start using IronKey USB drives as of October 1, 2011.
• On that date, Non-IronKey USB flash drives will lose the ability to have files and information saved on them from laptop/desktop computers

What to Do:
• All departments affected by this IT&S security policy must order IronKey USB flash drives for employees using an IT&S Hardware/Software request form

sounds to me like you would still be able to run the game from USB drive, but any "write" actions performed on the drive will be unsucessful. So if you change something in game that "edits" your ini file, the changes wont be saved, as an example.

imo, you should have no problems apart from those instances where your client is actually trying to "save" data on your usb drive.

However, if you think that your company is not monitoring, or will not monitor, the computer activity of it's employees, ALL the activity of ALL it's employees, then you're gonna wake up sad one morning.

Iron key is just a secure flash drive that requires a password to access its contents.

Logging != monitoring.

Yeah, they have logs of your activity. But actively sitting there watching what people do? Naw, only if they have cause to do so.
