Default Items that sell for what they cost on vendor?

I remember there being a post about this a long time ago and a search wouldn't yield.
Aren't there a few items out there that you can buy and sell back for close to their purchase price? ..with the intention of using them to 'transfer plat' to another char since we can't drop coin. Anyone care to refresh? Thanks.

I think people were doing large transactions in gems. not 100% cash back but i guess thats the price you pay to launder your dirty plat.

Gems are the best way to go. Ya lose only a few gold on smaller gems/jewerly and few plat on higher gems. Also the kunark class armor (gloves, boots, arms) sell to vendors in the 300-400pp range. They are worth roughly the same in EC anyway.

Yeah I figured gems were the best, just didn't know if was worth it or if it was a popular practice.

If I hadn't come back from hiatus with all my friends nowhere in sight, I wouldn't be asking. Hah

When I was hunting the guards in karanas I would buy and resell a bronze weapon to change out all my gold for plat. I want to say I would lose maybe 10-15%, but it was well worth it to drop all that gold weight. Some other necro told me about it when I was out there. Had to be bronze weapons though.

I asked the same question in EQ a few months ago and was approached by a GM asking why I wanted to know. It is an offshoot of why we can't drop cash although we could in classic. It is to deter plat farmers.
There used to be an item you could buy and sell for the exact same amount and I can't remember what it is, and I am not so invested in the idea that I am willing to mine all the merchants to find out.
And yes, the more convenient merchants do not give you a good deal. This is consistent with 1999 and was patched in not too long ago.
And Teensy weensy, that is a great idea, thanks. Brim is no bodybuilder [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Nice tips. Basically I just wanna buy some vendor items, drop-transfer them to my alt, and then sell em again to get my plat. Don't think bronze weapons will work well for me but ill definitely keep that in mind!
