I mean... you're definitely right. Higher end spells do cost a lot of money and it may force you to group in more lucrative areas to either buy them or loot them.

The difficulty to acquire shaman spells is definitely a great selling point; it really adds to the lifetime of play you can get out of the class imho.

IF you aren't playing often it isn't a problem either as chances are you won't get to the point of needing to dump 100k into a spell anyway.

Win win.

I still don't have bane or pox. Those dots (great though they are) aren't necessary for grouping.

IMO the most important factor will be whether you like sitting 95-99% of the time casting mostly heals or playing more interactively and being much more busy. Both have their merits. Even at 60, when playing my shaman there's rarely a moment when I'm not actively doing something. For some (including myself from time to time) this may feel like a chore. Cleric is nice and relaxed - a factor many people find boring.
