Default New Desktop
Trying to upgrade my 5 yr old laptop to run P99 while I do busy work at home.

Any suggestions as to good desktop choices? Not trying to spend over $700, just something with some kick.

If your capable enough to upgrade a 5 year old laptop you should be capable of building a computer able to run EQ for probably 350 dollars. Hell check craigslist for a 150 dollar desktop. Usually they are a dual core with enough juice to run EQ.

this is what i used for mine too. its nice for the wattage (always go higher than shown, mine showed 410 and i went with 850) and the compatibility filters are A+

Specs in what you have would be helpful. Brand names, etc. Although my advice is usually ditch the laptop and get a desktop.

Ye, that pcpartpicker site is great. Also,i don't think you could buy parts low grade enough to not run p99 these days.

We got a couple $300 laptops at some office store (Depot, max, staples?) 3 years ago and they run EQ just fine. The kids play their games (minecraft mostly) on the computers as well, so we didn't want to go all out on cost.

It's a game from 1999, and you cannot box on the server. It really doesn't take much AT ALL to run this game.

Seriously, most cell phones/tablets run it fine these days. You can get away with a cheap laptop or a REALLY cheap desktop and have no issues at all.

find a graphics card with multiple display input.. that waywhile you're farming/camping something on a long/rare spawn you can actually play a game :P
