Necro DoT Ticks

Howdy,

Here's some logs on the higher level necro dots and their ticks. One interesting thing I saw is that the "bond" part of the Vexing Mordinia part expired one tick earlier, so the healing buff placed on the caster ends early. This is likely a bug, but I haven't recorded if just the message is bugged, and it still heals after.

Because it's supposed to have a base duration of 16 ticks and gain the additional server wide tick.

That is my understanding, yeah. Splurt is supposed to have 16 ticks, and Cessation is supposed to have 10. Splurt should always have 6 more ticks. If there is this bonus server wide tick, and Cessation has 11, then Splurt should have 17.

dald - looks like splurt is properly 16 ticks now. that extra tick we fought hard for.

asking for the bonus tick is something different that affects all spells, when timed exactly right with the server tick. that's something different

It doesn't. The heal is a seperate effect: Vexing Mordinia Recourse. This is a side effect of the bonus tick change being applied to DoTs only. Classically these recourse effects didn't exist; the damage and healing durations of the lifetap over time spells were linked.

Alright, then a bug report needs to go in about the Recourse effects also being bumped up by 1 tick to match the damage dealt. I just didn't personally test the healing involved, so I didn't want to make a definitive claim until I tried it.

I haven't played in a while, but it looks like the +1 all dot wide tick is correctly added, but splurt is still sitting as base 15 ticks, when it should be base 16 ticks.

What he means is this:

Spells have a base number of ticks. The +1 tick is a bonus server tick that could happen to DoTs back in classic.

So Cessation of Cor is 10 ticks, but now it ticks 11 times because of the bonus server tick.

Splurt has 15 ticks, but now receives a bonus server tick.

Splurt should have 16 ticks base, and then receive a bonus tick on top of that.

A handy way to think of it: Splurt should always tick 6 more times than Cessation of Cor.

It should tick as follows:

11, 23, 35, 47, 59, 71, 83, 95, 107, 119, 131, 143, 155, 167, 179, 191, 203.

Some evidence to this that was presented in the thread in bug discussion:
