Well the one WoW server died because of Blizzard's lawyers. Courts and stuff u no. They brought said WoW server back up and I'm sure it has more pop than Uthgard even. Nost succeeds because they keep it as close to classic as possible and they care about their server. It is very well implemented.

Don't think anyone disagrees that servers drop off in pop but oddly enough Uth wiped and relaunched with more classic features and fixes... and has 10x the pop from the #'s it had before, which was my point.

Relaunching red with dark night times and item loot whenever people are done farming fear golems would be a good idea. It wouldn't kill the player base like we keep hearing management here insist. Fresh starts are fun, there's groups and PvP leveling up. In time here, maybe... but a rushed launch (listening to vztz crowd that it was fine, and listening to them and putting in YT aka send abusive tells notifications), letting people box (we thinks this guy is good for the server lolol) and exploit and stay on top killed this one.

I really think what keeps red down are the griefers that still play and the losers that post on the forums regularly spreading the word that "red is dead". Many people also play to cockblock each other in an already difficult game, there are no longer players going around helping newbies and genuinely porting people around like there used to be.

Red is what it always has been : concentrated scumbags and druggies with a small mix of people that just like EQ.

Oh and the harder raid mobs and longer fights in velious create a faster revolving door than previous expansions due to the higher burnout rate. Currently the burnout rate exceeds the rate of new players coming in (due to griefers and "red is dead" crowd).
